Table - best surf conditions forecast for Torrance Beach/Burn Out over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab your wettie, it’s Rusty. Here’s the story for Torrance Beach/Burn Out over the next couple of weeks.
Right now, it’s looking pretty darn flat and messy. We’ve got a long stretch of tiny, weak swell, and the wind is mostly blowing onshore or cross-onshore, just tearing the surface up. The first week and a half is basically a write-off. The only real light at the end of the tunnel is a long way off, at the end of the forecast.
The water is sitting at a balmy 69°, which is much warmer than usual for the season. That’s a nice bonus, but it won’t fix the waves.
The best window we’ve got is the morning of Sunday, July 26th. The swell is out of the SW at 2 ft with a 19-second period. That’s a long-period groundswell, so it’ll have some good shape, even if it’s small. The big win is the offshore wind from the SSE at 9 mph, giving us glassy, clean conditions. The combined energy is strong at 321, so there’s some power behind it. Since it’s a beach break, that long period might make it a touch straight, but for the size, it’ll be fun. The break is fairly consistent, but expect company—crowds are often here.
The morning of Monday, July 27th is also worth marking on the calendar. Similar setup: 2 ft of SW swell with an 18-second period, and again clean, cross-off winds from the SSE at 9 mph. The combined energy is even higher at 369. This is the best-looking swell of the whole run, but it’s a long way off, so don’t book the day off just yet.
The rest of the forecast is a real bummer. The swell barely climbs above 2 ft, and the wind is mostly onshore, churning up poor surf. The combined energy values are often in the low hundreds or even under 100. We’re talking weak. You get a bit of a clean moment on the morning of Thursday, July 23rd, but with only 2 ft of swell and energy at 129, it’s surfable but very ordinary.
For the size we’re dealing with, it’s all fine for beginners, but the conditions are just too ugly to make it worth while. Nothing here is too big for anyone.
Rusty signing off.
