The Lowdown

Alright, let's get the stoke levels checked. The next week and a half is looking pretty flat and quiet for us, so we need to be patient.

We're looking at Torrance Beach/Burn Out. The water temp is about what you'd expect for this time of year, so no wetsuit surprises there.

The outlook starts with a real dud. From Saturday the 22nd right through the end of the following week, it's a whole lot of nothing. We're talking days of tiny, weak swell, with the combined energy of all swells directed here barely cracking 200 (107-249). It's mostly small wind ripples and poor conditions. There's a tiny glimpse of something on the morning of Wednesday the 26th with clean cross-off winds, but the swell is still only 2 ft from the SW. It's surfable, but very ordinary.

The first real spark comes on Friday the 28th of August. The morning session is the pick of the early period. We've got a 2 ft SSW swell, but with a long period of 19 seconds, giving it some real push for a beach break. The wind is light and cross-off, making for clean conditions. The combined energy is a solid 253, which is a moderate kick. It won't be huge, but it'll be the most fun you'll find in this stretch.

After that, things get messy again. The mornings of Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th have a bit more size (3 ft - 3 ft) and a decent 15-17 second period, but the wind is onshore or cross-shore, chewing it up. It's a frustrating tease.

For the second week, we move into September. The morning of Tuesday the 1st of September is worth a mention. The wind goes glassy, and there's a 2 ft SSW swell. It's not much, but on a glassy day, any wave is a good wave. The energy is low at 182, so keep your expectations small.

Then, the best chance of the whole forecast lands on Saturday the 5th of September. The morning session looks clean with light, cross-off breezes from the SSE. The swell is a consistent 3 ft from the SSW with a 16-second period. The combined energy is a moderate 382. This is the standout. It's still not a big day, but with good conditions and a touch of groundswell, it could be a really fun morning.

The rest of the weekend and into the following week is back to marginal conditions with onshore winds in the afternoons.

So, the call is simple. If you're desperate, paddle out Friday the 28th of August morning for the cleanest tiny waves. But if you can wait, the real target is the morning of Saturday the 5th of September. That's your best bet for a proper session with a bit of energy and clean lines.
