Table - best surf conditions forecast for Torrance Beach/Burn Out over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let's break this down for our stretch of coast. We're looking at Torrance Beach, and it's a bit of a slow burn.
The first chance of a wave is Wednesday morning, July 8th, but it's not much. There's a 2ft swell from the SW, but the wind is cross-onshore, making it a messy, bumpy surface. The wave energy is weak at 447. That theme sticks around for a few days.
The first real glimmer of hope is Friday morning, July 10th. Swell is still 2ft from the SSW, a long-period 15-second groundswell, but the wind turns light cross-offshore from the SSE. That's going to clean things up nicely, giving us some fun little lines on the log. The wave energy is moderate at 236. It's not a world-beater, but it's the best we've seen.
Saturday morning, July 11th, is a repeat with clean, cross-off conditions and the same small 2ft swell. A touch of hope.
Then we go into a flat spell. From Sunday the 12th through Friday the 17th, it's mostly small, weak, and choppy. Swell heights drop to 1ft to 2ft, with onshore and cross-onshore winds. Wave energy plummets to as low as 116. Not worth the paddle.
The real standout is Saturday morning, July 18th. The forecast shows clean conditions with a cross-off breeze from the SSE. Swell is only 2ft from the SW, but the wave energy climbs to a moderate 252 with an 18-second period. That long-period groundswell will bring some nice, lined-up sets. It's easily the best-looking day.
Sunday morning, July 19th, is a close second. A very light, almost glassy wind from the SSE and clean conditions on the same 2ft SW groundswell (energy at 235). It'll be a smooth, mellow session.
For the standout, I'm calling Saturday morning, July 18th, at Torrance Beach. The clean, light offshore wind and the best wave energy of the whole run make it the one to target. Don't expect big waves, but for a clean, fun morning, that's your window.
After that, the forecast falls apart again with onshore winds and poor surf. The water temp is about average for this time of year.
Tough stretch, but there's a couple of decent mornings if you're patient. Lock in the 18th.
Rusty.
