Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks. I won't lie to you, it’s a quiet stretch, so temper your expectations. We’re looking at mostly tiny, long-period energy, and we've got a lot of junk wind days to wade through before we find anything worthwhile.
The first real chance to get wet is this Tuesday morning, July 7th. Torrance Beach/Burn Out is seeing a tiny 3 ft SSW swell with a very long 18-second period—that's proper groundswell, which usually means some shape, but at this size, it's barely gonna show itself. The combined energy is moderate at 463, but the wind is a light cross-onshore breeze, so it's not going to be clean. It's a 'marginal' call and honestly, it's a beginner-level wave at best for when the sets trickle through.
Wednesday morning is more of the same: 3 ft SSW at 16 seconds, energy reading 513. But again, that light cross-onshore breeze keeps it from being any good. We’re stuck in a rut of small swell and dicey winds until we get to Saturday morning, July 11th. That morning finally shows some hope. It's still small at 2 ft from the SSW, period 15 seconds, and the energy's down to 203, so it's weak. But what makes this the standout is the wind: a light cross-offshore breeze from the SSE. That’ll clean it right up, giving us glassy conditions. It's the best of a very small bunch. Expect a soul-surf session on a longboard; it’s not going to be pumping.
The following Saturday, July 18th, things perk up a bit. The swell stays tiny at 2 ft from the SSW, but the period bumps back to a nice 18 seconds, with energy reading 292. What’s crucial here is the early morning wind—a light cross-offshore from the SE and glassy conditions. This makes it the pick of the longer-range period. It's a promising session if you're after a really clean, small wave on the longboard before the wind swings onshore in the afternoon.
Between now and then, expect a whole lot of nothing. From the 11th afternoon right through until the morning of the 18th, it’s poor surf, onshore winds, and barely a ripple.
For the beginner surfer, none of this gets over 5 ft, so you're safe from anything too heavy, but the quality is the main issue.
Alright, that’s the long and short of it. A couple of clean, small windows, but nothing to get the heart racing.
