Table - best surf conditions forecast for Heavens over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s brewing for the next couple of weeks.
To be straight with you, the first week and a half is pretty flat. There’s nothing worth paddling out for until July 19th. From the 8th through to the 18th, we’re looking at tiny, weak waves with poor conditions – mostly cross-onshore junk and choppy, weak swell. Honestly, it’s a bit of a write-off. You’re better off doing something else on land.
The standout session comes on the morning of Sunday, July 19th. Heavens is the only break on the radar, and it’s a beginner-friendly spot. That morning, we’ve got a 5 ft swell coming from the SSE with a period of 16 seconds – that’s a long-period groundswell, so expect plenty of energy but maybe a bit straight for a beach break. The combined energy is a solid 1670 (moderate to strong), so there’s real push behind it. The wind is a light S at 3 mph, making it a slight air with just a light cross-onshore ripple – that’s about as clean as you could hope for. The water is sitting around 67°, which is a notable 4° warmer than usual, so it’s much warmer than average for this time of year. The crowds here are “sometimes” busy, so you might have a few others out, but it’s a decent option for a learner-friendly wave. The swell direction is SSW, which is the optimum direction for this spot.
That afternoon, the swell bumps up to 5 ft from the S, period 15 seconds, still with decent energy (1464), but the wind swings to WSW at 9 mph, making it a gentle cross-onshore with some chop. It’s still rideable, but the morning is the cleaner call.
July 20th (Monday) sees the swell drop to 5 ft from the S in the morning, but the wind is still light cross-onshore. The afternoon improves a bit as the wind goes cross-shore, but the swell is fading to 4 ft. It’s marginal, but if you missed the morning, it’s a fallback.
After that, the surf backs off again into the 21st and 22nd with small, mediocre waves. July 23rd (Thursday) shows a bit of a pulse with a 4 ft SSE swell and a 16-second period, but the wind is cross-shore, so it’s still just a marginal option.
Truth is, the only real standout is that Sunday morning the 19th. Everything else is either flat or poor. If you’re a beginner, that’s your window. If you’re more experienced, keep an eye on the longer-range forecasts, but don’t hold your breath.
Rusty.
