Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Hey folks, Rusty here. Well, I’ve got to be straight with you – the outlook for Flies is a long, frustrating stretch of nothing much. We’re looking at a solid 16-day window starting now, and honestly, there’s no real standout session on the cards. The water’s a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting around 72.0°F with an anomaly of +2.9°F – not that it’ll matter when you’re staring at flat, choppy junk.
From Monday afternoon on July 6th right through to mid-July, it’s a wasteland. Cross-onshore winds, tiny swell, and energy readings barely ticking over – most days are below 100 (weak) on the combined energy scale, with a few bumps into the low triple digits but always spoiled by messy wind. Tuesday the 7th? A pathetic 0.3 ft of SE swell with a 10s period but dead cross-shore breeze. The whole first week is a write-off.
There’s a glimmer around Friday July 17th – afternoon brings offshore wind from the NW at 12 mph and a 3.3 ft SSW swell, period only 6s so short and weak, but the conditions are clean (energy 83). Still, “surfable but very ordinary” is the best we get. Then Saturday morning July 18th goes glassy – calm, 2.6 ft SSW, 6s, energy 54 – maybe a few knee-high peelers on a longboard, but don’t expect much. Sunday morning July 19th is also glassy, with 3.6 ft S swell at 8s, energy 159 – that’s the pick of the bunch, but it’s still small and the afternoon turns choppy again.
Monday July 20th morning shows a bigger bump – 6.9 ft SSW at 8s – but it’s cross-on and chopped up, energy jumps to 881 – too messy for good surfing, maybe more of a kite session if that’s your thing. After that, it fades back to nothing.
So, the best on offer? Honestly
