Alright folks, let’s get real about Flies. It’s a long 16-day outlook, and to be honest, it’s mostly a flat spell. For the first week, from now right through Thursday, July 9th, don’t bother. We’re talking days of nothing but wind chop and tiny little bumps – combined wave energy barely registering 20 or 30. The water’s sitting at 72°, which is a touch warmer than average, but that’s the only highlight.
The one and only real chance to get wet comes on Friday afternoon, July 10th. That’s your standout. A 4ft swell from the SSW, with the wind clocking offshore from the NW at a light 9 mph. That’s going to make it clean and glassy for a few hours. The combined energy hits 227, which is actually decent for this break. The period is a short 7 seconds, so it’ll be a bit racy, but the offshore wind is a total game-changer. It’s a beach and jetty spot, fairly consistent, and with a few other heads in the water, but it’s worth it.
After that, Saturday, July 11th, has a 3ft south swell with a 9-second period (136 energy), but a 9 mph cross-onshore breeze messes it up. The rest of the second week is grim. Tiny south and southwest swells, onshore winds, and combined energy sitting in the 30s and 40s. There’s a morning on Tuesday, July 14th, that goes glassy on a tiny 3ft wave, but it’s just too weak to ride. The break really needs a good solid southwest groundswell to work, and it’s just not getting it.
Stick to Friday afternoon, July 10th. That’s the only one.
