Alright, let's take a look at what's happening. This is a tough stretch, I won't lie to you. Looking at the whole picture, we’ve got a long, quiet spell before a significant pulse of southwest swell shows up late in the period. The first real chance to get wet won't come around until the second weekend, maybe even later, so be patient.
Here at Flies, the start of the outlook is a write-off. Sunday the 5th is glassy with calm winds and a tiny 1ft southeast swell, but the energy is weak (20) and the conditions are just poor. Nothing to get excited about. We roll into Monday the 6th with a fresh 22 mph onshore wind and rain, and that pretty much sets the tone for the next week. The surf is either non-existent or blown out.
We finally get a flicker of hope on Friday the 10th in the morning. The wind is light and cross-off, cleaning up a 3ft swell from the SSW with a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 210 (moderate) and the water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year at 72°. It’s a glimmer, but the surf quality is only marked as "expect good surf conditions" with a low score, so keep expectations in check. The afternoon paddles back into mediocrity.
From there, it’s another flat or messy run until we get to the standout window. Saturday the 18th starts to build, but the wind is cross and funky, so it’s not worth the effort. The real deal looks like Sunday the 19th morning. We’ve got a solid 8ft swell from the SSW with 8-second period. The energy is massive (1674), so there’s serious power in the water. That size is pushing into expert territory, so leave the foamie at home. The wind is cross and gentle, but the forecast calls it "marginal surf forecast or questionable tide conditions," so it might not be as clean as we’d hope. This is the pick of the whole 16-day run, but it’s over a week away, so treat it as promising but not locked in.
After that, the swell drops back, but Monday the 20th still has some 4ft SSW swell with clean cross-off winds in the morning and some manageable energy (193). It’s not a head-turner, but it’s ridable after the dry spell.
Overall, this is one of those blank periods where you just have to wait it out. Sunday the 19th is the only true standout, and even it comes with caveats. Don't hold your breath on anything before that.
