Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bondo Kodi over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it for Bondo Kodi. This is a solid, exposed point break that’s going to see plenty of action over the next couple of weeks, but you’ve got to pick your moments.
The water’s sitting at about 80°, which is pretty much spot on for this time of year – no weird temperature anomalies to worry about.
We start off with a bit of a slow burner. Monday the 13th is a write-off – tiny 2ft SSW swell with a 12 mph cross-breeze making a mess of things. You’re better off doing something else. Tuesday the 14th sees a big jump in size to 6ft, but the wind is still cross or cross-on, and the energy is moderate (1901 to 2071). It’s surfable, but not special.
Now, Wednesday morning the 15th is where it gets interesting. The swell holds at 7ft from the SSW, but the wind goes glassy. Absolutely dead calm. The swell period is 16 seconds, which is a proper long-period groundswell – that’s going to wrap around the point with real power and shape. The combined energy is strong (2202). This is a standout for experienced surfers. The only catch is that it’s a bit hefty for beginners at 7ft, and with that long period, it’ll be powerful. Crowds are sometimes a thing here, so get in early.
Thursday morning the 16th is another glassy session, 5ft from the SW with a 15-second period. The energy is still solid (1246). Another clean, punchy morning for the more experienced crew. The afternoons on both Wednesday and Thursday get chopped up by the sea breeze, so make it a dawn patrol mission.
Friday the 17th through Sunday the 19th drops off a bit. Swell sits between 4ft and 5ft, but the wind is a persistent cross-shore from the SE. It’s not terrible, but there’s a slight chop and the energy is only moderate (826 to 1302). Nothing to write home about.
Monday the 20th brings a pulse of bigger swell – 7ft to 8ft from the SW with a 16-17 second period. That’s a lot of water moving (energy of 2886 and 2699). But the wind is cross-on or cross, and the quality scores are low. It’s going to be a messy, powerful beast. This one is strictly for the experts, and even then, the bumpy conditions will make it a challenge.
Things get a bit ragged from Tuesday the 21st through to the end of the first week. The wind gets fresh to moderate from the SE, and the swell drops. There’s a period of poor surf from the 22nd to the 24th, with lumpy, cross-choppy conditions and energy dropping below 1000. It’s a bit of a dead zone.
We get a bit of a reprieve on Saturday the 25th. The swell is only 3ft to 3ft from the SW, but it’s a long-period 17-second swell, and the wind is light. The energy is moderate (1113). It’s a small, clean option for a longboard or a fun session.
Then, the second week throws up a real gem. Sunday the 26th afternoon, the wind goes glassy. Just dead calm, with a 4ft SSW swell at 15 seconds. The energy is moderate (922), but the conditions are described as “very good.” That’s a clean, fun wave.
Monday the 27th morning is also glassy, 4ft SW, 14 seconds. A nice, clean, smaller day. But the real standout in the long-range forecast is Monday the 27th afternoon. The swell drops to 3ft, but it’s from the SSW with a massive 20-second period. That’s a very long-period groundswell. The energy is still moderate (1039), but it’s glassy. That’s a rare, clean, long-period pulse that’s going to wrap perfectly into the point. For a point break, that’s about as good as it gets – the wave will be silky smooth. It’s small, but the quality will be unreal.
Tuesday the 28th morning also looks excellent – glassy conditions with a 4ft SSW swell, 18-second period, and strong energy (1294). Another one for the experts to get excited about. The afternoons after that will likely get a bit of sea breeze.
So, the two true standouts to circle: Wednesday morning the 15th for a strong, clean 7ft swell, and Monday afternoon the 27th for a tiny but glassy, super-long-period gem. Everything else is a pick-and-choose game with the wind.
Stay stoked,
Rusty
