Lakey Peak Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. We’ve got a solid run of swell on the cards for Lakey Peak. No waiting around, the surf is on from the get-go.

The big picture is a sustained pulse of long-period SW groundswell that locks in with light to gentle offshore and cross-off winds for days on end. The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, so no surprises there – just comfortable tropical conditions.

Sunday 13th September we’re into it straight away. Morning sees a clean 6ft SW groundswell with a very long 18 second period, and a light offshore breeze from the SE. The combined energy reading is a solid 2603, which tells you there’s plenty of push. This is excellent surf for you experienced crew – long, lined-up sets peeling down the reef. The afternoon bumps up to 8ft but the wind goes a bit cross-off, so the morning is the pick for perfection.

Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th keep the quality high. Swell holds around 6ft to 6ft, periods still in the 15-16 second range. Morning sessions with gentle offshore or clean cross-off winds are the go. This is classic, consistent Lakey Peak, with wave energy in the 1500-1800 range. It’s busy but not manic, though with crowds listed as ‘often’, expect plenty of company out there.

Wednesday 16th to Friday 18th the swell eases just a fraction but stays clean. The wind stays light and cross-off. A standout for me is Thursday 17th morning – 6ft, 14 second period, light cross-off breeze, and the energy is still up at 1563. It’s got that slight bump in size and the conditions are pristine.

Week two (20th to 28th September) keeps the dream alive, just with a little more variety. A nice pulse arrives Sunday 20th with 6ft and 17 second period – energy jumps to 1875. Monday 21st holds 7ft with offshore winds in the morning. The real highlight of the entire run looks to be Friday 25th September. Morning swell is 6ft with a whopping 19 second period and energy at 3531, then the afternoon pushes 8ft and 18 seconds, energy hitting 4041. That is a serious wall of water – experts only on the afternoon, but the morning session with those long-period groundswell lines will be unforgettable. Light winds the whole day.

Saturday 26th to Monday 28th sees the swell taper slightly but stays above 6ft and clean, with light winds. The energy readings stay well into the strong range.

Best on offer? No doubt, Friday 25th September morning for the purest, longest lines, and Sunday 13th September morning for that immediate, aggressive start to the run. Don’t sleep on the Thursday 17th morning either.
