Table - best surf conditions forecast for Benete over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
First off, we’re looking at Benete, a reef and point set-up that’s a bit of a rare bird – it doesn’t fire often. But when it does, it’s for the advanced crew. The water’s sitting at 82°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, but nothing crazy.
The pattern starts slow. Friday the 10th through Sunday the 12th is a bit of a write-off. We’ve got some solid SW groundswell pushing through, with a very long period of 16 seconds and combined energy reading 1717 (moderate to strong), but the cross-shore wind is messing up the surface. It’s not a total flat spell, but it’s not worth paddling out for. The wave energy is there, but the quality isn’t.
Things start to look up on Monday the 13th. The swell drops a bit, but the afternoon session cleans right up with some light cross-offshore breeze and a very long period of 21 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell, and for a point and reef, that’s your bread and butter. The energy is moderate (844), but the shape should be there for the experienced surfer.
The real standout, though, is Tuesday the 14th. We’ve got a 6ft SSW groundswell rolling in with a 17-second period, and the morning is glassy. The combined energy is pumping at 2230 (strong), and the comment says it’s excellent for experienced surfers. This is the pick of the bunch. The swell’s a bit too big for beginners, but you lot who know what you’re doing will be smiling. The Wednesday morning after that is also solid, with 7ft SSW at 16 seconds and a glassy start, but the wind turns cross-shore later.
After that, the second week gets a bit messy. Winds pick up, and the quality drops. There’s a window on Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd where the wind goes glassy or light, with some clean 5ft SSW swell. The energy is moderate (929 and 727), so it’s not world-class, but it’ll be fun for the advanced crew. By Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th, we see another clean spell with glassy conditions and 5ft SSW swell, but the energy is on the lower side (1197 and 1200). Still, for a spot that rarely breaks, a clean day with waves is a gift.
Overall, the best bet is Tuesday the 14th. It’s the biggest, cleanest, and most powerful session in the window. After that, keep an eye on the glassy mornings in the second week, but don’t expect fireworks.
Rusty.
