Table - best surf conditions forecast for Benete over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer.
Well, the coming weeks are going to be a bit of a mixed bag. We’ve got a solid run of swell for the reef and point set-up at Benete, but the wind and conditions are going to be the real story. The water’s sitting at a balmy 82°F which is about normal for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The first few sessions, starting Wednesday the 8th and through Thursday the 9th, are going to be frustrating. We’ve got some decent sized swell, around 7ft to 7ft from the SSW with a super long 15-second period (groundswell), and the combined energy is massive (2140 to 1954). But the wind is a strong cross-shore from the SE, 12 to 16 mph, and the forecast calls it marginal. It’ll be choppy and tough, honestly more of a battle than a joy.
Friday the 10th looks like a step in the right direction. The afternoon session sees the wind swing to a cross-off from the ESE at 12 mph, cleaning things up nicely. With a 6ft SSW swell and a 16-second period, the energy is still strong (1849). It’s still a bit on the bigger side, so more for the experienced crew, but the cleaner faces will make it worthwhile.
Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th see the swell dropping. Saturday morning has 5ft cross-shore swell, but by Sunday morning the wind goes glassy with a 3ft SW swell. It’s small, but that glassy surface is a beauty. The energy is low (627), but for a longboard or a funboard, that Sunday morning session would be a treat.
Now, Monday the 13th morning is a real standout. Glassy conditions again, with a clean 3ft SW swell. It’s small, but the conditions are described as “very good.” This is the kind of morning you paddle out for a quiet, clean session.
Later that day and into Tuesday the 14th, the swell starts to build back. Tuesday afternoon is another highlight: a 6ft SSW swell with an 18-second period, cross-off wind from the ESE at 9 mph, and an excellent forecast for experienced surfers. The energy is pumping hard (2271). This is the first real quality session for the bigger wave crew.
The middle of the week, Wednesday 15th to Thursday 16th, is a bit of a chop-fest again with onshore winds, but Thursday afternoon cleans up again with a 5ft SW swell.
The following weekend, Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th, both mornings are glassy with 5ft SW swells. Excellent conditions are on the cards. Sunday afternoon sees a jump in size to 6ft from the SSW with a massive 18-second period and clean cross-off wind. The energy is a whopping 2593. That Sunday afternoon is shaping up to be something special.
The best bets for the experienced surfers are clearly Tuesday the 14th afternoon and Sunday the 19th afternoon – both have that excellent combo of size, period, and clean wind. For a more relaxed, clean wave, Monday the 13th morning and Saturday the 18th morning are your glassy windows.
The following week, from Monday the 20th, the swell gets serious. Monday afternoon hits 7ft from the SW, cross-off wind, and energy of 3023. Excellent conditions again. Tuesday the 21st pushes to 8ft, but the wind goes cross-shore and a little stronger, making it a bit bumpy. That’s big and punchy, only for the experts. Wednesday and Thursday see the swell slowly dropping back, but the cross-shore wind sticks around, keeping it from being perfect.
So, overall, there’s plenty of swell here, but you have to pick your windows. The wind is the main player. A few true standouts with glassy or clean conditions, and a couple of big, clean afternoon sessions for the experienced.
Rusty.
