Table - best surf conditions forecast for Benete over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. We’ve got a single spot to look at for the next couple of weeks – Benete – and it’s a reef and point setup that’s advanced only and rarely breaks. So, the outlook is pretty simple. There’s swell coming, but with this spot’s picky nature, we’re in for a long wait. The first real action doesn’t kick off until Monday morning, July 13.
It actually starts off pretty promising. Monday morning, July 13, Benete is glassy with a light 3 mph SSE breeze and a clean 3 ft SW swell on a 12-second period. The combined energy reads at 621 – weak to moderate, but it’s clean and the water temp is 82° with a 1° anomaly, so slightly warmer than average for this time of year. That morning session should be a nice introduction. Monday afternoon gets even better: the wind shifts to a light 6 mph ESE cross-offshore, the swell drops a tad to 3 ft but the period jumps to a very long 21 seconds, pushing the combined energy up to 857. That’s a groundswell with serious shape – perfect for a point break like this – and it’ll be clean. That afternoon is the standout of the first week.
Tuesday, July 14, the swell bumps up to 6 ft–7 ft from the SSW with periods around 17–18 seconds, but the wind goes cross-shore and the conditions turn marginal. There’s plenty of energy – the combined energy hits 2310 and 2516 – but the cross chop will mess with the lineup. Wednesday and Thursday, July 15 and 16, are similar: solid swell (5 ft–7 ft), long periods (15–16 seconds), but persistent cross-shore winds. Thursday afternoon, July 16, does clean up a bit with a cross-offshore ESE breeze at 9 mph, so that’s a decent option with a 5 ft SW swell.
Friday, July 17, through the weekend is more of the same – surf in the 5 ft–5 ft range, but the wind stays cross-shore or cross-off. Saturday afternoon, July 18, looks good with clean conditions and a 5 ft SW swell. By Sunday, July 19, the wind goes light and cross-off again, giving us clean 4 ft waves.
Now, here’s the big one. Monday, July 20, brings a serious pulse: the swell jumps to 8 ft from the SSW with a 17-second period and combined energy of 3233 – that’s strong energy. But the wind is cross-shore on Monday morning and afternoon, so it’s gonna be tricky. That’s expert territory only, and the cross-chop won’t help. Tuesday, July 21, still has 6 ft swell but the wind picks up to 16 mph in the afternoon, making it ugly.
From Wednesday, July 22, onward, it drops off hard. Wednesday morning is poor, and by Thursday, July 23, the swell fades to 3 ft–4 ft. The rest of the run – through to July 28 – is mostly marginal, with small swell (3 ft–5 ft) and cross-shore winds. There’s a long gap of poor or poor-to-marginal days from July 22 to July 27, with only a few brighter spots like Friday, July 24 afternoon (6 ft, 18-second period, 2183 energy) and Saturday, July 25 morning (6 ft, 16 seconds), but both are cross-shore.
Overall, Benete is a break that rarely lives up to its potential, and this stretch is no different. The standout is Monday, July 13: clean, glassy, and the afternoon session with that ultra-long 21-second groundswell is a true gem for any advanced surfer who knows this reef. The other big swell days have too much cross-shore wind to be really special. For a spot that’s inconsistent anyway, this is a pretty typical run – a few clean windows, a whole lot of waiting.
Rusty out.
