Table - best surf conditions forecast for Benete over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk about what’s brewing for the next couple of weeks at Benete.
Water temp is about normal for the season, nothing weird. The swell is coming from the southwest, which is the sweet spot for this reef and point. This place rarely breaks and it’s for the advanced crew only, so when it fires, it’s a special deal.
First real chance is Monday the 13th. The morning has a small 3ft cross-swell with a bit of bump, but the afternoon is the real story. The swell drops a touch to 3ft, but the period jumps to 21 seconds – that’s pure groundswell energy. The wind is clean and offshore, and the combined energy is 849 (moderate). Not the biggest, but for a spot that rarely shows, it’s a clean, glassy little window.
Tuesday the 14th is the standout. The morning has 6ft of SSW swell with a 17-second period, and while the wind is light cross-on, the afternoon cleans up perfectly. The afternoon brings 7ft of swell, 18-second period, and cross-offshore breeze. The combined energy is a serious 2518 (strong). This is excellent surf for experienced surfers – powerful, long-period lines on the reef. This is the session to aim for.
Wednesday the 15th holds solid with 6ft to 7ft and 16-second periods, but the wind stays cross-shore all day, rippling the surface. The energy is still strong (2264 and 1739), but it won’t be as clean as Tuesday. Still plenty of push for the experienced.
From Thursday the 16th through to Sunday the 19th, the swell slowly drops from 5ft down to 4ft. The periods hold around 13-16 seconds, and the wind is mostly cross to cross-off, giving some cleaner windows, especially Sunday afternoon when the combined energy climbs back over 1000 (1009) and the conditions are clean. It’s a long run of decent, but not epic, waves.
Then we hit a rough patch. From Monday the 20th, the swell kicks back up – 7ft on Monday afternoon, 6ft on Tuesday morning – but the wind turns more cross-on, and the quality drops. Tuesday afternoon the 21st gets a zero score, with moderate cross-onshore chop making it poor. The rest of that week and into the following weekend is a mixed bag of marginal to poor conditions, with onshore winds ruining the shape. There’s a brief uptick on Saturday the 25th with 6ft and 17-second swell, but it’s still cross-on and choppy.
Sunday the 26th morning offers a last glimmer – 6ft, 15-second period, light cross-on breeze, and a combined energy of 1632 (strong) – but it’s only a small window before the onshore winds trash it again in the afternoon. After that, the outlook fades into small, choppy conditions through the 27th and 28th, not worth paddling out for.
So, to wrap it up: the best by far is Tuesday afternoon the 14th. That’s the one to circle. Monday the 13th afternoon is a lovely, clean, long-period bonus. For the rest, it’s a long stretch of okay-to-mediocre, with that second week looking pretty rough. Keep an eye on the forecasts, but temper your hopes.
Rusty.
