Table - best surf conditions forecast for Scar Reef over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab your board and let's talk about what's coming our way. The next 16 days are looking pretty darn good, with a solid run of surf that's got me buzzing. There's a bit of a wait for the real quality, but once it kicks in, you'll want to be in the water.
We've got a slow start, but the first real action kicks off on Friday, July 10th. Scar Reef is the spot to be, and it's a classic reef and point setup that loves a good SW groundswell. The water's feeling about average for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
Friday morning, the 10th, is a strong start. We're looking at a solid 6ft SW groundswell with a very long period of 16 seconds, and the energy is packing a punch (1727). Best of all, the wind is a gentle offshore breeze from the SE, making for clean, groomed lines. This is a big, powerful wave – more suited to the advanced crew, but it's a treat.
The swell holds through Saturday the 11th, starting with 5ft SW groundswell and a 15-second period, but the wind shifts to a cross-off, still clean. It drops a touch through the afternoon to 5ft, but the wind goes back to offshore. Keep an eye on Sunday morning the 12th – the swell is down to 3ft, but you'll be rewarded with glassy conditions. It's a smaller, cleaner day, perfect for a longboard.
Now, here's the standout. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 14th. The morning kicks off with a glassy 6ft SSW groundswell with a 17-second period, and the energy is absolutely pumping (2114). The wind is glassy, and the conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. This is the kind of day where you clear your schedule. The afternoon holds up just as well at 6ft with an 18-second period, a little more cloud cover but still clean.
Wednesday the 15th is another cracker. It's the biggest of the run, with 7ft SSW groundswell and a 17-second period. The energy is massive (2523) and the wind is a clean offshore. This is proper, expert-level surf. The quality stays high through the rest of the week, with a solid 5ft to 7ft range holding up, all with clean offshore winds.
The second week looks promising too. By Monday the 20th, we see another pulse of 7ft SSW groundswell, though there could be a few rain showers around. The wind stays good, so it's still worth a paddle. The swells ease off toward the end of the month, but conditions remain clean with glassy mornings on the 24th and 25th.
Overall, don't sleep on the 14th and 15th of July. Those are the true standouts. The rest of the period is filled with consistent, clean surf. Scar Reef is the only game in town here, and it's a good one.
Rusty.
