Updates in  hr  min  s Forecast update imminent

Alright surfers, Rusty here with the outlook for the coming weeks.

We’re looking at one main player for the whole period: Impossibles. This is a reef break, and it’s set to be the only real game in town. With the water temp sitting at a warm 81°, that’s about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.

We kick things off on Monday, July 6th, but don’t get too excited. The morning shows a 4ft SSW groundswell with a long 17-second period rolling in, but the wind is a stiff 16 mph offshore from the ESE. The combined swell energy is pumping at a solid 1404, but the conditions are only marginal. Afternoon builds to 6ft at 16 seconds, with even stronger 19 mph offshore winds. It’s clean, but it’s not the standout.

Tuesday the 7th is similar, with 5ft SSW swell, consistent offshore breeze, but still just ‘moderate’ conditions. The big highlight of the whole run starts shaping up on Wednesday the 8th. By the afternoon, we’ve got 7ft of SSW groundswell at 16 seconds, with clean offshore winds from the ESE at 16 mph. The combined energy here is a massive 2195, and it’s flagged as excellent for experienced surfers. This is your best bet in the first week. It’s big enough that beginners should stay out of the water though.

That swell eases a touch into Thursday and Friday the 10th, with another solid 6ft to 6ft SSW swell and good winds. By Saturday the 11th, the swell drops back a bit to 5ft to 5ft, and the energy is down to around 918-1195.

A quiet spell hits Sunday the 12th, with smaller 3ft SSW swell and low-energy readings under 440. Not much to write home about. Monday the 13th brings an interesting pulse: only 2ft to 3ft, but the period jumps to a very long 20-21 seconds. That long period can make for weirdly straight waves on some breaks, but on a reef like Impossibles, it could mean perfect, long lines. The energy is moderate.

Then we see another solid push from Tuesday the 14th of July. The swell jumps back up to 7ft of SSW groundswell at 17 seconds, with combined energy hitting 2396. That is strong, powerful surf, but winds are a fresher 19 mph offshore. This is another top pick for experienced surfers only, as anything over 7ft on this reef will have some serious power. That quality holds through Wednesday the 15th and into the weekend.

We get a slight dip around Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th, with 4ft to 5ft swell, before the forecast really locks in again for the weekend. Saturday the 18th shows a 4ft SSW swell with moderate energy of 1516 and excellent conditions for experienced surfers. Then Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th are absolute standouts for the second week: 5ft SSW to SW swell at 15-16 seconds, clean offshore ESE winds at 12 mph, and combined energy readings of 1651 to 1771. All flagged as excellent for experienced surfers.

The run winds down on Tuesday the 21st with smaller 4ft swell and dropping energy.

The bottom line: The whole forecast revolves around Impossibles. For the first week, make Wednesday the 8th and Friday the 10th your targets for the biggest, cleanest surf. In the second week, Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th look just as good. This is a reef break that delivers consistent groundswell, and with the optimum direction coming from the SW, we’re in for some proper waves. Crowds are listed as ‘sometimes’, so you might get some company, but it’s not a zoo. Keep in mind, this is a consistent, very consistent spot, so even the smaller windows should give you a wave.

Stay safe on the bigger days—this one is for experienced surfers when it’s over 7ft.

Rusty.
