Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s on the cards.
This is a solid run of swell for Impossibles, a reef break that fires on a good SW groundswell. It’s an advanced wave, very consistent, and set up with an ESE offshore that’ll keep things clean. The water’s sitting at 80.8°F with an anomaly of 0.4°F, so pretty much average for this time of year – no surprises there.
Friday the 3rd kicks things off with a 6.6ft SSW swell at 14 seconds. That’s moderate wave energy (1476) and with a SE offshore around 12 mph, it’s clean and groomed. This is for experienced surfers – 6.6ft on a reef is no mess-around. By Friday afternoon, it drops a touch to 5.9ft but the wind goes slightly cross-off; still clean but maybe not as perfect.
Saturday the 4th is a standout. Morning brings 5.9ft SSW swell, period stretching to a long 16 seconds, and offshore wind from the ESE at 16 mph. The combined energy jumps to 1875, so moderate-to-strong. This is a quality, powerful groundswell. Saturday afternoon holds similar: 6.2ft, 15 seconds, steady offshore. Two solid sessions.
Sunday the 5th keeps the run going: 5.9ft SSW in the morning, 14 seconds, offshore. The energy is 1535 – still very solid. Afternoon eases a touch to 5.6ft but stays offshore. Good waves both halves of the day.
Monday the 6th sees the swell dip to 3.9ft in the morning but with a very long 17-second period – that’s proper groundswell, long lines, but might wall up at a reef like this. Combined energy is 1391. Wind is a fresher 19 mph offshore, so choppy but still clean. Afternoon bumps back to 5.6ft, 16 seconds, and moderate offshore. Still a good session, but the morning’s a bit undersized for the power it has.
Tuesday the 7th is smaller: 4.6ft, 16 seconds, but the wind’s fresh at 19 mph. Combined energy drops to 1042. Not bad, but not as punchy. Afternoon is similar with a slightly shorter period and lighter wind.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Wednesday the 8th afternoon: 6.9ft SSW swell – that’s getting into expert-only territory – with a 16-second period and combined energy of 2414. That’s strong. Offshore wind at 16 mph. That’s the pick of the first week for the more experienced crew. Morning is 5.6ft but still pumping.
Thursday the 9th holds at 5.6ft both sessions, 15 seconds, solid energy (2219 in the morning). Offshore winds. Another day of excellent surf.
Friday the 10th: morning has rain showers but still offshore wind, 5.2ft SSW at 15 seconds. Combined energy 1291. Afternoon clears up: same size, but swell shifts slightly more SW at 16 seconds, energy 1551. Still good.
Saturday the 11th: smaller again – 4.3ft and 3.9ft, periods dropping to 15 and 14 seconds. Energy falls under 1000 in the afternoon. Clean but easing trend. The run is fading.
Sunday the 12th: down to 2.6-3.0ft, periods of 13 seconds. Still some clean shapes but definitely the tail end. Energy around 400-450.
Monday the 13th: a bit of a bounce – 4.3ft morning, 4.6ft afternoon, 14 seconds. Combined energy climbs back to 907 then 1389. Offshore to cross-off. That’s a nice little pickup after the flat spell.
Tuesday the 14th morning is a standout later in the outlook. Glassy conditions – wind virtually nothing from the SE, 5.2ft SSW swell with a very long 17-second period, energy of 1816. That’s a gorgeous morning, clean as a whistle, long period groundswell. Afternoon holds 5.6ft, 16 seconds, light cross-off, still clean.
Wednesday the 15th keeps it going: 5.9ft SSW at 16 seconds, light offshore in the morning. Energy 1728. Afternoon stays clean with a moderate offshore.
Thursday the 16th: easing again, 4.6ft morning, 3.6ft afternoon. Still offshore, but the energy drops.
Friday the 17th: smaller, 3.3-3.6ft, 14 seconds. Fresh breeze in the morning, moderate in the afternoon. Not the pick.
Then Saturday the 18th afternoon brings another late highlight: 5.2ft SW swell with an 18-second period – very long period – and combined energy of 2040. Offshore breeze in the morning goes glassy, then gentle offshore in the afternoon. That’s a powerful, clean session to finish the run.
So, the standout sessions? Saturday the 4th all day, and Wednesday the 8th afternoon for the bigger stuff. Later on, Tuesday the 14th morning with glassy conditions and the 18th afternoon with that long-period energy are real treats. Crowds are possible at Impossibles – it’s a known spot – but with this quality,
