Table - best surf conditions forecast for Super Suck over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s break down the surf at Super Suck.
We’re starting off Sunday morning, 12 July, with a clean 3 ft SW swell, 13-second period, and a light cross-off breeze from the south at 3 mph. Water temp is 81°, pretty average for this time of year. Combined energy is moderate at 542. It’s a nice, clean start.
Sunday afternoon and Monday ease back to 3 ft, but still clean. Monday afternoon, the period jumps to a very long 21 seconds – that’s groundswell with serious punch. Energy hits 795, and it’s moderate offshore. This long period is perfect for the reef and point setup at Super Suck.
Tuesday 14 July is when it gets big. Morning sees 6 ft of SSW swell, 17-second period, offshore SE winds at 9 mph, and combined energy of 2212. That’s strong wave energy. This is excellent surf, but at 6 ft with long period, it’s for experts only. By afternoon, it’s 7 ft, 18 seconds, and energy at 2522. The wind stays gentle offshore, so the faces will be glassy. This is a true standout.
Wednesday 15 July holds the size – 7 ft in the morning, 7 ft in the afternoon, both with long period (16 seconds) and offshore or cross-off winds. Energy is still very strong (2282 / 1735). Thursday and Friday ease off – 5 ft to 5 ft, but still with that solid SW groundswell and clean conditions. The wind picks up a bit on Friday afternoon (16 mph offshore), but it’s manageable.
Saturday 18 July is a bit of a lull, energy dropping to 921 by afternoon, but it’s clean. Sunday 19 July brings a lift – 4 ft SW, 13-second period, light cross-off breeze, and energy of 944. But the real boom is Monday 20 July: 8 ft of SSW swell, 17-second period, offshore winds, and energy at 3653. That’s massive, powerful swell. Only for experts. Another standout.
The surf hangs around through Tuesday 21 July (7 ft, 15 seconds) and Wednesday 22 July (5 ft), but the energy drops and conditions become more marginal. From Thursday 23 July through Friday 24 July, it’s smaller – 4 ft to 3 ft – and the wind freshens up, especially Friday afternoon with 19 mph offshore. That’s more kite-surfing weather, but still clean.
Then, Saturday 25 July delivers a massive return: 7 ft building to 8 ft of SSW swell, 18 to 17-second period, with gentle offshore winds. Energy is 3338 and 3623. This is another expert-only, world-class window. Sunday 26 July holds 8 ft and 7 ft, still very clean, and Monday 27 July eases to 6 ft and 6 ft with a risk of thunderstorms by afternoon.
The best on offer? Without a doubt, the Tuesday 14 July and Monday 20 July sessions are the standouts – big, long-period SW groundswell, offshore winds, and that reef and point setup at Super Suck will handle it perfectly. Saturday 25 July is also a cracker. Crowds are listed as “sometimes,” so you might get a few, but with this quality, it’s worth it.
One more thing: the deep 20+ second period on Monday 13 July afternoon and again on Sunday 19 July afternoon means the wave shape will be super clean at the point, but the sets will be widely spaced. Paddle out will be easy, just be patient.
Rusty out.
