Alright, let's get into it.
We’ve got a solid run of swell lining up at Super Suck – a reef and point setup that’s really gonna fire for the crew who know what they’re doing. This is an advanced wave, so beginners should give it a miss, especially when it gets bigger. The water temperature is sitting at 82°, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year, so the sting out of the morning breeze won’t be too bad.
It kicks off on Friday morning the 3rd of July with a clean 6 ft SSW swell, period a solid 14 seconds, and a light 10 km/h SSE breeze keeping things tidy. The combined energy is strong at 1382. It’s excellent for experienced surfers. Friday afternoon drops off a bit with the tide going iffy, so don’t get too excited for the arvo.
Saturday the 4th is a ripper. The morning has 6 ft from the SSW at a meaty 16 seconds, light SSE breeze, and it’s spotless clean. The energy is pumping at 1586. The afternoon gets even better: 6 ft SSW, 15 seconds, with a gentle offshore from the ESE at 15 km/h. That’s the kind of glassy offshore you dream of. This is a standout.
Sunday the 5th stays good – 6 ft SSW, long period, light winds in the morning, and a gentle offshore in the arvo. Consistency is on point.
Monday the 6th: the morning drops a little to 4 ft, but that 17-second period from the SSW means long lines. Energy is 1222. The afternoon kicks back up to 6 ft, 16 seconds, and a moderate offshore at 20 km/h from the SE. Clean power.
We hit a bit of a lull Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday morning the 8th – waves around 5 ft, wind picking up, and the tide factor isn't ideal for those sessions. Don't bother.
But then Wednesday afternoon the 8th is a beauty: 7 ft from the SW, 15 seconds, and a moderate offshore from the SE at 25 km/h. The energy jumps to 2148 – that’s strong stuff. This is for the experienced crew only, but it’s going to be superb.
Thursday the 9th holds excellent conditions, with 7 ft SSW and offshore winds in the morning, staying solid through the arvo.
From there the swell eases a bit but stays fun. Friday the 10th and the weekend of the 11th/12th have clean, surfable 4 ft to 5 ft waves with light wind and offshore conditions. Not the biggest, but clean and good for a longer session.
Then we get a second wind starting Monday the 13th. Monday morning is glassy: 4 ft SW, 14 seconds, with a slight breeze from the SW. That’s as clean as it gets. The afternoon picks up to 4 ft, excellent conditions.
Tuesday the 14th is a call-out: 5 ft SSW at 17 seconds in the morning, building to 5 ft in the afternoon. The energy is over 1600, and the wind stays light. This is another proper standout for the experienced surfer.
Wednesday the 15th keeps the momentum – 6 ft SSW, 16 seconds, clean conditions all day. Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th ease off but stay clean and fun with offshore breezes.
Finally, Saturday the 18th morning goes glassy again with 4 ft SW, and the afternoon brings a solid pulse from the SW at 5 ft with an 18-second period – the longest period of the whole run – and energy of 1707. That’s a groundswell that’s perfect for the reef.
Overall, the best on offer are Saturday the 4th morning and afternoon for the combination of solid size, long period, and that light to offshore wind. Also, Wednesday afternoon the 8th and Tuesday the 14th for the power and clean conditions. The first week is strong; the second week is more of a consistent, clean run with a couple of glassy windows and that long period spike on the 18th.
