Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jetty over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk about what’s cookin’ at the Jetty. For the first week and a half, honestly, it’s pretty grim. We’re looking at a long stretch of poor surf from now through about the 18th of July. The swell is tiny and the wind is all over the shop – mostly cross or cross-on, nothing to get your heart racing.
But then, like a gift from the surf gods, things flip right around. The standout is Monday morning, the 20th of July. That’s the day. We’ve got a 7ft south groundswell rolling in with a 9-second period, and the wind goes offshore from the north at just 6 mph. It’s gonna be clean, with that energy pumping hard at 690. The wave report says it loud and clear – expect very good surf conditions.
The Jetty is a breakwater spot that’s super consistent, and it loves a south-east swell direction, which is perfect. With that kind of power and offshore wind, the waves will have some real shape and push. It’s a solid, challenging wave for intermediate surfers – just keep in mind that anything over 8ft is expert territory, so at 7ft it’s big but manageable. The water’s at 74°F, which is a good 5°F warmer than usual for July – that’s a big deal, so you’ll be fine in a shorty or boardshorts. Crowds can show up here, and on a morning like that, you won’t be alone.
The next morning, Tuesday the 21st of July, is also worth setting the alarm. It drops to a 4ft south-east swell, but still with clean conditions and a light north-northeast breeze. The energy is moderate at 203, and it’ll be a fun, easy ride for intermediates and maybe some bold beginners, as long as you respect the size.
Before that, the only little flicker is on Wednesday the 15th of July morning – glassy and a small 3ft south swell, but it’s weak and just surfable, nothing special. The rest is a long, boring wait.
So, bottom line: the first week is a hard pass, but the mornings of the 20th and 21st of July are your golden hours. Get out there.
