The Lowdown
Alright, grab your board, let's have a look at what's coming up. This is a pretty quiet stretch for the Jetty, with a long wait for anything decent. We kick things off with small, weak, and messy waves for the first week or so. You'll be sitting on the beach for a while.
The first real chance of something surfable rolls around on Sunday, 19th July. The Jetty will have a bit of knee-high energy from the SSE, but the conditions are just average. It's a long wait for a little bit of nothing.
The most promising period is Tuesday, 21st July, through to the end of the month. The best window is the afternoon of the 21st, with a 5 ft S swell rolling in, and a gentle cross-offshore wind from the W keeping things clean. The combined energy is moderate, hitting 292. It's not groundbreaking, but it's the best we'll see.
Then, on Monday, 27th July, the morning has a real moment. The swell is 4 ft from the S, and the wind goes glassy. That's super rare for here, and it'll make for a clean, smooth surface. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no need for a thick wetsuit.
Most of the other days are a write-off. The wind is onshore or cross-onshore, the swell is small, and the energy is weak. The breakwater here is exposed, so it catches everything, but it also catches all the wind. A few days in late July, like the 26th and 28th, have a bit more size (5 ft - 5 ft) but the wind is either cross or cross-on, making it choppy. The 28th has a 5 ft S swell with moderate energy (324), but the cross-onshore wind will ruin it.
Overall, don't rush down. The standouts are the 21st afternoon and the morning of the 27th. Everything else is a hard pass. The long gap from the start of the forecast until the 19th is a real bummer.
Stay patient, friends.
