The Lowdown

Alright, it's Rusty here. Let's have a look at what’s on the cards for the coming weeks. I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough run. We're looking at a long stretch with barely a ripple on offer.

Right now, and for the next two weeks, it's looking flat, real flat. The only bit of activity is scheduled for this Wednesday morning, September 16, but honestly, it’s a non-event. We’ve got a tiny 0.7ft swell from the WSW with a period of just 2 seconds – that’s pure wind chop. The combined swell energy is a measly 1 (that’s the weakest it can be), so don't even bother getting your hopes up. The wind is onshore from the SSW at 9 mph, so conditions are poor.

At Stony Point, the water temperature is reading 71°F, which is 6°F warmer than normal for this time of year – that's very unusual. It’s like the ocean forgot it’s autumn.

For the rest of September and right into the first day of October, every single session shows poor surf conditions or no swell data at all. That’s a solid 15-day gap with nothing worthwhile. The winds will be clean and offshore at times – especially on Friday the 18th and Sunday the 20th – but with no waves to work with, that’s just a tease. Even though Stony Point is rated as fairly consistent, the real forecast just isn't delivering. This is one of those blank runs that's more normal for the area, unfortunately.

So, here's the deal. If you absolutely need to get wet this week, the dawn patrol on Wednesday morning will give you flat, bumpy conditions. For the rest of the window, save your wax and watch the forecast for a change.

Rusty.
