Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for The Wall.
To be straight up with you, the next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim. We’ve got a solid run of tiny, weak surf that’s barely worth a look. From now through to the 5th of July, it’s all 1ft of short-period slop, mostly from the SE. The combined energy is just 20 to 26 (very weak). Wind is a mix of cross-off and glassy conditions on Sunday morning, so it’ll be clean, but there’s just no power to work with. This stretch is a washout.
Tuesday the 7th sees a bump in height, up to 5ft from the SE, but that’s a messy, short-period windswell (5 seconds) with onshore wind and rain. It’s ugly. The energy jumps to 114 (moderate) but the quality is poor.
Wednesday the 8th is the only faint glimmer in this whole outlook. The swell drops back to 4ft from the NE, period is still short at 6 seconds, but the combined energy climbs to 215 (moderate). The wind is light cross-on from the ENE at just 3 mph, so it’ll be a bit bumpy but not a total mess. This is about as good as it’s going to get. The Wall is exposed, so it’ll catch that NE swell, but don’t expect any kind of classic shape with that short period.
After that, it’s back into the doldrums. From Thursday the 9th all the way through to the 18th of July, the swell barely breaks 3ft, and most days it’s around 0.7ft to 1ft with combined energy dropping as low as 7 (very weak). There are a few glassy mornings, like on Sunday the 11th and Monday the 15th, but you’d be surfing ankle-biters. Tuesday the 8th remains the pick of a very poor bunch.
If you’re desperate, Wednesday morning the 8th is your window for a limp but clean-ish session at The Wall. Otherwise, it’s a long wait. Keep an eye on the charts – this area can change quick, but right now, it’s a flat spell.
Rusty.
