Table - best surf conditions forecast for 8th Street Jetty over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it. Look, I’ve scanned the charts for 8th Street Jetty and I gotta be honest with you – it’s a real quiet stretch coming up. There’s nothing on the board that’s gonna get your heart racing. We’re looking at a full 16 days with no surf worth paddling out for. Every single window shows poor surf, with scores reflecting that. The energy is weak, barely registering a pulse, and the swell is tiny.
The first few days, from July 11th through the 12th, we’ve got a mix of light cross-onshore breezes and chop. Swell is a pathetic 0.7 ft to 4 ft, with periods all under 8 seconds. That’s wind swell junk, not real surf. The energy readings are in the teens and eighties, which is weak. On Sunday the 12th, the wind picks up to a moderate breeze, adding to the mess.
We get a bit of a clean-up from the 14th through the 16th, with some cross-off winds, but the swell is still tiny – 0.3 ft to 2 ft. The energy is in the single digits and twenties. It’s clean, but you’d be floating out there, not surfing. Tuesday morning the 14th is glassy clean, but with 1 ft of swell, it’s a lake.
The 17th and 18th offer a little more breath, with a slight bump in swell to 2 ft on Friday morning the 17th, and a light offshore wind from the NNE. That’s the closest we get to a window, but the period is a short 4 seconds, so it’s just lumpy, weak, and inconsistent. The energy is still only 25.
After that, it’s back to small, weak, and mostly choppy or clean but flat. By the 20th, we see a bit more energy (130) but the swell is coming from the SSE at 5 ft with a short 6-second period and a cross-onshore breeze. That’s messy, and for an advanced spot, it’s just not worth the paddle.
The rest of the run into late July is flat, with the odd glassy moment on the 19th afternoon and 24th morning, but with only 0.3 ft to 1.0 ft of swell, there’s nothing to ride.
So, the brutal truth: there are no standouts. No hidden gems. Don’t even bother waxing up. This is one of those blank runs where the area just goes quiet. It happens. Forecasts can change, but right now, this is a solid stretch of no-go. Leave the board in the car and go do something else.
Rusty.
