Table - best surf conditions forecast for Canto do Leblon over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the menu for Canto do Leblon over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, the water temp is sitting at 72°, which is pretty much what you’d expect for this time of year – no drama there.
The first few days are a bit of a write-off, honestly. We’ve got some swell rolling in on Monday the 13th with waves around 7ft to 7ft from the SSW, but the wind is a messy cross-shore and the energy is moderate. The conditions are just too chopped up to get excited about. Tuesday the 14th is a little better – the swell drops to 5ft and the wind swings light and cross-offshore in the morning, giving us a clean window. That’s your first real chance to get wet, but the swell is on the smaller side, so it’s nothing to write home about. Wednesday morning the 15th is also clean with a light cross-off breeze and 5ft swell from the SSE, but again, it’s not lighting any fires.
The real standout is hiding in the second week. Mark your calendars for Saturday the 26th. The morning kicks off with a solid 5ft S swell and a light cross-offshore breeze, but it’s the afternoon that’s the gem. We’re looking at 6ft from the S with a period of 14 seconds – that’s proper groundswell. The wind is light cross-off, the conditions are clean, and the energy is strong. This is the kind of session you want to be out for. It’s a bit on the bigger side for beginners, but for the experienced crew, this is gonna be firing. The swell direction is a good match for the break’s optimum from the SE, and the long period will really set up nicely on the point.
Before that, Thursday the 23rd morning offers a clean 4ft S swell (12 sec) with light cross-off wind – a decent little session for a workday. And Sunday the 26th morning is glassy with 3ft S swell, clean as a whistle, but on the smaller side.
The last couple of days of the forecast show a bigger pulse coming in on Monday the 27th, with 7ft to 8ft S swell and a very long 15-17 second period. That is a lot of water moving. The problem is the wind turns onshore, making it messy. For experts only, and even then, the conditions might be a fight. That long-period swell is better suited to the point here, but the onshore breeze is a buzzkill.
The first week is mostly small, with a few cleanish windows but nothing huge. There’s a big gap of poor conditions from the 15th afternoon through the 22nd, with only small, ordinary waves. The second week has the clear winner on the 26th.
Rusty out.
