The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here, let's talk about what's on the menu for Laje Rasa over the next couple of weeks.

Right now, it’s looking a bit flat and ordinary. The first real chance of anything decent doesn't show up until the morning of Tuesday, September 15th, so you’ve got a couple of days of small, messy surf before that. Expect a chest-high 5ft swell from the ENE, but the period is a short 7 seconds, so it’ll be a bit lumpy and disorganized. There’s a moderate amount of energy in the water (542), and the cross-shore wind from the north will leave it with a bit of texture. It’s marginal, but it’s the start of something.

The real standout, the one you want to circle on the calendar, is the morning of Thursday, September 17th. This is the best on offer. We’re looking at a clean 5ft swell from the south with a solid 9-second period. The energy is pumping (556) and the wind is glassy – that’s right, glassy from the WSW. This reef break is an intermediate spot, and with conditions like that, it’s going to be super clean and fun. Just a heads up, it’s inconsistent, so you might wait a bit between sets, but when they come through, they’ll be worth it.

After that, things get a bit wild. The following days are blown out by strong onshore winds. The next sniff of something good comes on Monday, September 21st, with a morning session showing a 7ft swell from the ENE. The wind is cross-off from the NW, which will keep it clean. That's a solid size, getting into expert territory for the bigger sets, so know your limits.

The last real highlight is on Wednesday, September 23rd. The morning is looking proper with a 7ft swell from the ENE and a clean, offshore wind from the WSW (691 in energy). That’s a powerful, well-shaped wave for the experienced crew. After that, it tails off into small, messy surf again through the end of the period.

So, for the best of it: get in the water Thursday the 17th morning for the cleanest waves, and keep an eye on the 23rd for a bigger, more powerful session if you've got the skills.

Rusty.
