Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rosa over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a proper look at what’s coming up for Rosa over the next couple of weeks.
First up, we’ve got a slow start. The first few days have some waves, but the wind and conditions are a bit of a mess. Monday morning (13 July) is the first real chance – a 7ft S swell with a short 8-second period, but the moderate energy (1089) is there. The wind is cross-off at 15 km/h, so it’s clean. But the water is much colder than normal at 59°, a full 7° cooler than average for this time of year. That’s a serious drop; you’ll want a thick suit. The crowd is *sometimes* there, so you might get a bit of company. This one is for the experienced crew only – 7ft with that short period will be punchy.
Monday afternoon drops off, so forget it. Tuesday morning (14 July) is the real standout for the first week. We get a 6ft swell from the SE, a 10-second period, and the wind goes glassy – NW at 5 km/h. That’s dreamy. The energy is solid (605), and it’ll be clean, smooth, and inviting. Rosa is a fairly consistent spot, and this is the best window for a good session. Tuesday afternoon gets a cross-on wind, so morning is the call.
The rest of the week gets messy. Wednesday through to Saturday morning are all cross-shore winds and poor surf quality. The swell is there but the wind just ruins it. Sunday afternoon (19 July) is a small bright spot – a 7ft NE swell with a 8-second period, cross-off wind at 5 km/h, and clean. The energy is high (902) but the period is short, so not a classic.
Now, the second week is where it gets interesting. The conditions really start to line up. Tuesday morning (22 July) has a 5ft SSE swell, 10-second period, clean cross-off wind, and strong energy (885). That’s a very good session. Wednesday (23 July) afternoon is glassy – 2ft SE swell with a 12-second period, no wind, clean. That’s a long-period groundswell, so it’ll have shape and power, but the size is small. Good for a relaxed board.
The true standout for the whole 16 days is Sunday, 26 July and Monday, 27 July. This is big. Sunday morning (26 July) we get a 8ft S swell with a 15-second period – that’s a very long period groundswell. The energy is massive (2780). The wind is cross-off and light. This is expert territory only. 8ft with that period will be heavy, powerful, and the sets will be long and clean. Monday morning (27 July) follows with a 8ft SSE swell, 16-second period, and cross-off wind. The energy is 2595. This is a serious run of groundswell, best handled at a point or reef break. Rosa is exposed, so it’ll get the full force – expect a challenging, rippable wave for the experienced.
By Tuesday (28 July) morning, it’s glassy, 5ft SSE swell, 13-second period, and still high energy (1612). The conditions are still excellent, but the size drops.
So, the best on offer is Tuesday morning, 14 July, for a clean, fun session, and then the big groundswell window from 26 to 28 July for the experts. Get ready for a cold one at the start.
Rusty.
