Mystos Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, let’s get into it.

The next couple of days are pretty uninspiring, to be honest. We’ve got a bit of swell in the water, but it’s weak and the winds aren't doing us any favors. Wednesday and Thursday are looking pretty flat and ordinary, with surfable but very unremarkable waves. The energy is low, around 158, and the water is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year at 68°, which is nice, but it doesn’t make up for the lack of push. It’s not until Saturday that we see things start to move, but it’s messy and the wind is going to chop it right up.

The real window starts to open up on Monday, the 10th. That southeast swell starts to fill in with a longer period, and the wind swings offshore. It’s not massive, but it’s clean and has some power to it. Tuesday morning looks even better, with a bit more size and continued clean conditions. This is where things start to get interesting.

Then, we get to the standout. Next Tuesday the 18th, the afternoon is looking seriously good. We’ve got 8ft of northeast windswell, but the wind is dead calm, absolutely glassy. The energy jumps to 1640, which is strong, and the conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. This is the pick of the entire forecast. It’s going to be big and powerful, so it’s not for the faint of heart.

The Wednesday morning after that also looks fantastic, with solid 8ft waves and light offshore winds. That’s another one for the experienced crew. The swell direction is from the ENE, which is a bit off from the optimum SE direction for Mystos, but with that size and those clean winds, it should still offer some proper waves. It might be a bit too big and straight for the beginners, but for the rest of us, it's a go.

Before that, the week leading up to it is a bit of a mixed bag. There’s a lot of average, poor, and marginal days. The 15th has some serious size, over 8ft, but the wind is going to be cross and messy, making it a bit of a washing machine. Probably more interesting for the kitesurfers than us paddle surfers. The 17th has a glimmer of hope with some glassy conditions, but it’s short-period and lacks that punch.

So, to sum it up: the next few days are for cleaning your board and checking the wax. The beginning of next week has some decent clean waves. But the real standout is Tuesday the 18th afternoon, and Wednesday the 19th morning. Those are the sessions to circle on the calendar. They’re a bit far out, so keep an eye on it, but the forecast is looking promising.
