Table - best surf conditions forecast for Figuera over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
First up, the overall picture. We’ve got a long window ahead, but don’t get too excited just yet. The first week is a mixed bag, with some solid swell energy but often paired with messy wind. The standout window is going to be Wednesday the 15th, where everything lines up nicely. Then there’s a big lull, with almost nothing rideable from the 18th through the 22nd. After that, we get a pulse of strong, long-period swell late in the second week, but it’s a bit of a gamble that far out.
Let’s start with the only real highlight of the near-term. Figuera is the spot to be on Wednesday morning, July 15th. We’re looking at a clean 5ft swell from the SSE, with a solid 11-second period, giving it some real push. The combined energy is moderate (630), and the wind is offshore out of the NE at 12 mph. That’s going to leave the waves clean and lined up. It’s a consistent break, so you won’t be waiting around. The water temp is sitting at 72°, which is about average for this time of year, so no wetsuit drama for most of us.
Wednesday afternoon drops off a touch with the swell easing to 5ft, and the wind picking up to 19 mph, still offshore but getting a bit stronger.
After Wednesday, the surf drops off quickly. By Thursday the 16th, the swell is down to 5ft, but the wind is howling at 25 mph, making it a real struggle. The rest of that week and into the next is a write-off, with tiny waves and poor conditions, barely scraping 0.7ft to 2ft. That’s a solid 4-5 day stretch with nothing worth paddling out for.
Then, looking way ahead to Thursday, July 23rd, we have a serious pulse of energy. Figuera should see a 7ft swell from the SSW, with a very long 15-second period. The combined energy is massive (1716), which is a lot of power. The wind is offshore from the ENE at 19 mph, so it’ll be clean. But, for a spot like this, a long-period swell like that can be a bit tricky – it might break a little too straight, so it’s one for the more experienced crew. The rating is only marginal, so keep your expectations in check. It’s a promising call, but it’s a week and a half away, so the forecast is less certain.
After that, things drop off again into the 25th and 26th, with small, clean but weak surf.
So, the call is simple: get on it Wednesday morning the 15th. That’s your best bet. The 23rd is a long-range shot for the brave, but treat it as a bonus if it comes together.
Rusty.
