Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let's talk about Figuera. We’ve got a bit of a mixed bag on the horizon, but there are definitely some bright spots to get excited about.
Right now, it’s a bit of a no-go. This weekend is pretty much a write-off with strong onshore winds and messy, lumpy conditions from a solid southwest swell. The wave energy is up there, around 1700 (moderate to strong), but the onshore wind is just ruining it. We’re looking at a gap of a couple of days before things turn around.
The real action starts to fire on Monday, July 6th. The morning is looking magic – glassy conditions with a light west wind, and a clean 6 ft SSW swell. That is excellent for experienced surfers. The afternoon might be the true standout of the whole outlook, with an offshore easterly breeze grooming a 6 ft south swell. The wave energy jumps up to 1388 (moderate to strong), and that clean offshore wind will mean some proper, lined-up waves. This is the best bet for the near future.
Tuesday the 7th still has some fun waves around, with a very long period 16-second groundswell from the south. But it’s smaller, around 3 ft, and the wind is a bit tricky. That long-period swell will be more suited to a point or reef setup to stop it from walling up.
We get another really promising window on Thursday, July 9th. A complete glass-off in the morning with a 5 ft SSW swell – that’s clean, smooth, and ripe for it. The afternoon holds with a light cross-offshore breeze too.
Further out, keep an eye on Sunday, July 12th. The afternoon shapes up with a strong 6 ft south swell (energy at 1525 – strong) pushed by a solid offshore easterly breeze. That’s going to be another day for the experienced crew with clean, powerful lines.
Then we hit a weird spell. There's a massive, long-period south swell forecast for the weekend of July 19th and 20th. The wave energy absolutely goes nuts – over 5000 (very strong) on the 19th and still over 3200 (strong) on the 20th. However, the early part of that weekend is blown out by strong onshore winds. But check out Monday, July 20th – the morning is looking at 10 ft of south swell with a clean cross-offshore breeze. That is massive. That’s big-wave territory, only for experts. By the afternoon it drops to a still-very-serious 8 ft, but the wind goes light offshore. If you’re an experienced charger, that Monday afternoon is a potential session of the year, but it’s a long way out, so treat it as a promising maybe.
All in all, the water temp is about 74°F, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there. This area can be a bit of a slow starter sometimes, but when the window opens, it can be special. Keep an eye on that glassy Monday morning (July 6th) and that cracker Sunday afternoon (July 12th).
Stay frothing.
