Table - best surf conditions forecast for Geriba over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what we’ve got on the cards for Geriba.
Right off the bat, the water temperature is sitting at a pretty standard 73°F, which is spot on for this time of year – no surprises there.
We’re kicking off Friday afternoon the 10th of July with some decent, clean fun. The swell is a friendly 4ft out of the SE, with a nice long 13-second period. The wind is a gentle cross-offshore breeze, and the wave energy is moderate (536). It’s clean and set up for a good session. This is a good one for beginners and anyone looking for a smooth ride.
Saturday the 11th is a morning-and-afternoon story. The morning is a write-off with a messy cross-onshore wind, so skip that. But by the afternoon, the wind swings back to a clean cross-off, and we’ve got similar 4ft SE swell. The afternoon session is the one to aim for.
Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th are not looking good. On Sunday, the wind is onshore and choppy, and by Monday, a solid 8ft SSW swell rolls in, but it’s being hammered by a moderate cross-onshore breeze, making it a messy and poor option. The wave energy jumps up to strong (1784), but the quality is shot. Not worth paddling out.
Tuesday the 14th still feels messy. There’s a big 8ft SSE groundswell (12-second period) coming in, with strong energy (1649), but again the wind is cross-onshore and the surf looks choppy and marginal.
Now, here’s the standout. Wednesday morning the 15th of July is the genuine pick of the week. We’ve got a clean 7ft SSE swell with a 12-second period, and the wind is blowing straight offshore from the NE at 12 mph. That’s going to line up beautifully at Geriba. The combined energy is strong (1206), and conditions are excellent for experienced surfers. This is the best on offer – a proper morning session.
The rest of the week after that fades out. Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th have decent offshore winds and some leftover 6ft to 5ft SE swell, but the wind is getting fresh and strong (19-22 mph), so it’ll be clean but tricky.
From Saturday the 18th of July onwards, the swell drops away hard. We’re looking at a long gap of small, weak waves. By the 19th and 20th, it’s down to 1ft and 0.7ft with barely any energy (49 and 24). The wind stays strong and offshore, but there’s just nothing to ride. This flat spell lasts well into the next week.
There’s a small pulse of life showing up on Friday the 24th of July – a 4ft S groundswell with a very long 14-second period, and a moderate offshore wind. But it’s a long way out, so keep an eye on it.
And then on Saturday morning the 25th of July, there’s a tantalising glimpse of glassy conditions – a 2ft S swell and glassy wind from the NNW. That’s a dream setup if it holds, but it’s a long-range speck on the horizon.
So to wrap it up: your best bets are Friday afternoon the 10th, and then Wednesday morning the 15th is the real standout for experienced surfers. After that, it’s mostly flat for a week, with a whisper of something better far down the line. Keep the wetsuit handy.
Rusty.
