Table - best surf conditions forecast for Arpoador over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Arpoador over the next couple of weeks. The water's sitting at a pretty normal 73.4°, nothing unusual for the time of year.
Honestly, the start of the period is a bit of a write-off. We've got some cross-on sou'west wind blowing on Tuesday the 7th, making things choppy and messy, with a weak 3.6ft swell (371 energy) – not worth paddling out for.
Alright, things start to turn around on Thursday morning the 9th. We get a glassy, dead-calm morning with a clean 3ft south swell, period around 10 seconds. The wind is zero, so expect clean little waves but nothing special. Friday morning the 10th is your early standout before things get crowded. Offshore NNE breeze, 2.6ft of SE swell and a very long 14-second period – that groundswell will wrap nicely into Arpoador, giving you those long, grovelly lines. The water will feel glassy and the crowd situation is *often* busy here, so get in early for the best of it.
After that, we go through a long, mediocre stretch from Saturday the 11th right through to the 18th. The swell hangs around the 2ft to 3.6ft mark, but winds are messy or onshore, so it's mostly ordinary waves and poor conditions.
Now, here's where it gets interesting. Sunday morning the 19th brings a jump in size – 4.9ft of SSE swell but with a short period of 8 seconds, so it's a bit of a dumpy, close-out beachie. The good news is the wind is glass. Still, it's only a glimpse.
The real standout is Monday the 20th morning. That's the best of the whole outlook. We get 4.9ft of SSE groundswell, 11-second period, and a clean, cross-offshore ENE breeze. The energy is strong (689), and the waves will have some punch and shape to them. Expect good, clean lines but note that at 4.9ft, it's pushing the beginner-friendly size a bit, though still fine for intermediates. Arpoador will be working nicely. After that, Tuesday the 21st morning holds a similar 5.9ft SE swell (685 energy) with offshore NE wind, making for another clean session – but 5.9ft is starting to get into expert territory, so if you're not confident in overhead waves, pick Monday instead.
Wednesday the 22nd is still clean in the morning with offshore wind and 4.3ft SE swell, but the size drops off after that.
So, best on offer? That Monday 20th morning session at Arpoador – glassy, clean, solid 4.9ft groundswell from the SSE. Tuesday the 21st morning is the next best. Get on it.
