The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s shaping up for Arpoador over the next couple of weeks.
First off, I gotta be straight with you – the next week or so is pretty flat and ordinary. We’ve got small, weak surf with very low combined swell energy (mostly under 400). The water is sitting at 71°F which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so nothing wild there.
The only real standout in this whole outlook is the Sunday morning of the 2nd of August. That’s the one to circle. We’re looking at a solid 6ft swell from the SE with a period of 10 seconds, and the combined energy jumps right up to 1118 – that’s proper moderate energy. Winds are light offshore from the NNE, so it’s gonna be clean. That’s the best session on offer by a long shot. The Sunday afternoon holds similar size at 6ft from the SE, but the wind goes cross-shore, so the morning is the pick.
Before that, the morning of the 28th of July has a bit of life to it – 5ft from the ESE – but the period is short at 7 seconds. It’ll be clean with light offshore winds, so it’s worth a look if you’re keen, but it’s not the big one.
The 1st of August morning also deserves a mention. 4ft from the S with a 12-second period, clean offshore wind, and combined energy of 457. That’s a decent little groundswell window, but it’s not the standout.
Outside of those few windows, it’s mostly small (under 3ft), weak, and often choppy or onshore. There’s a stretch from the 18th through to the 26th where it’s really just tiny dribble and poor conditions. The 26th is a write-off with strong onshore SSW winds and short period windswell.
So, to sum it up: the next week is a waiting game. The real action is the Sunday morning of the 2nd of August. That’s your best bet for a proper session – clean, solid, and with some decent energy. Get it while it’s good.
Rusty.
