Table - best surf conditions forecast for Arpoador over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
So, we’ve got a bit of a slow start, but there’s some real promise building from this coming weekend and into the next week. The water’s sitting at 73°F which is a touch warmer than the usual for this time of year, about a degree and a half above average – feels nice, no major shock to the system.
The first real glimmer is Thursday morning, July 9th at Arpoador. The swell is small, around 3ft from the SSE, but the wind is glassy – dead calm. That’s a rare treat. The waves will be clean as a whistle, and with the moderate energy (298) it’s a perfect window for a longboard or a funboard. The water is still that mild 73°F and the anomaly is right around 2°F warmer than average, so it’s a comfortable session.
Friday morning, July 10th is also a tidy little window. The swell drops a touch to 2ft from the SE, but the wind is offshore from the NNE and light. The period is a long 14 seconds, which is proper groundswell. That longer period might make it a bit hard to line up at a beach break, but Arpoador can handle it. The energy is moderate (297), and it’ll be clean.
The standout of the whole 16-day run is Monday morning, July 13th. The swell jumps to 5ft from the S, with a 13-second period. The wind is off the land from the N, and the energy reading is strong at 1037. That’s the kind of juice that’ll get you into some proper waves. The water is still warm, and the conditions are clean. This is the one to circle on the calendar. The afternoon on the same day is also good at 4ft from the S, but the morning is the pick.
After that, things get a bit mixed. Thursday morning, July 23rd is another interesting one – 6ft from the E, but with a short 8-second period. That’s more of a windswell, and it’s going to be a bit bouncy. The wind is offshore, so it’ll be clean, but the quality won’t be as good as the 13th.
There are a few gaps. After the 13th, the 14th and 15th are pretty ordinary with cross-onshore winds and short-period junk. The 16th and 17th have some surfable waves but nothing to write home about. The 18th and 19th are tiny. The 20th afternoon has a clean 5ft from the E, but it’s short period again. The 21st is marginal. The 22nd is a write-off with a strong cross-shore breeze.
If you’re a beginner, stick to the Thursday morning glass-off sessions and the Friday morning. The Monday the 13th at 5ft is getting into the zone where it’s a bit more for the experienced crew.
Overall, the best bet is Monday morning, July 13th. That’s the one.
Rusty.
