Table - best surf conditions forecast for Arpoador over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let's talk about the same stretch of water, but in the old units.
We've got a slow start, so don't get your hopes up for the first few days. The surf is pretty much a no-go through Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th. The wind is all wrong, and while there's a lot of energy in the water, it's just sloppy and ugly.
The first real chance to get wet is Wednesday morning, July 15th. Arpoador is looking at a clean 5-foot swell from the SSE, and the wind is a light offshore from the NNE. That's a perfect combo. The period is 11 seconds, so it's a proper groundswell that will wrap in and give you some nice, long lines. The water is about 72°, which is normal for this time of year. It's a good session for a beginner or intermediate, just know that the crowd is often there.
The quality sticks around for Thursday the 16th. Another morning with a light offshore wind and a clean 4-foot SE swell, also with that same 11-second period. The energy is a bit lower, but it's still very fun.
Things get a bit quiet for a while, with a significant lull from the 18th through the 24th. The swell drops off, and the energy numbers get really small. Then, all that changes on Sunday, July 26th. That's the standout. The morning session has a clean 5-foot S swell (14-second period) and a light offshore breeze. That's a beautiful, high-quality groundswell. The afternoon is even better, with the swell hitting 6 feet from the S, still with that 14-second period, and the wind is a light cross-offshore. The energy is a solid 1471, so it's a punchy, powerful wave. This is for the experienced crew only.
The final days, the 27th and 28th, have some serious size – up to 8 feet – but with onshore winds, making it tricky and messy. It's a big, powerful ocean out there, but not the cleanest.
So, your best windows are the clean, steady waves from the 15th to the 17th, and the absolute fire session on the 26th of July. The rest is a gamble.
Rusty.
