Alright, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on the cards for Tramandai Pier (Platforma) over the next couple of weeks.
Overall, we're looking at a bit of a mixed bag. The start of the period has some surf, but it's nothing to get overly excited about. Conditions are hit and miss, and you'll need to pick your windows carefully. There is a real standout day on Saturday the 11th, and another good prospect towards the very end on Monday the 20th, but other than that, it's mostly small waves and average conditions.
First up, on Sunday the 5th, there’s a 6ft SSE swell rolling in with a 10-second period from the south-southeast. Combined swell energy is moderate at 769 (moderate). The wind is a cross-shore from the NE, so while there are waves, it’s not going to be clean. It’s a marginal window at best, and the score reflects that—this is a pass for most of us.
Monday the 6th sees the swell drop to 4ft, still from the SE with a 10-second period. The wind switches to a cross-offshore from the W, which cleans things up nicely for the morning. Clean conditions, but the energy is lower at 303 (weak). It’s still marginal, but if you’re desperate for a paddle, the morning might give you a couple. The afternoon is similar.
Tuesday the 7th morning is the first real glimpse of something decent. A 3ft swell from the ESE (10 sec) gets a clean offshore breeze from the W at 12 mph. Energy is low (216), but the wind makes it look good for a grovel. It’s actual “good surf conditions” on paper, just small.
Wednesday the 8th morning continues that trend with a 3ft S swell at 11 seconds and a light offshore from the WNW. Again, small but clean. Energy is 292 (weak). A decent morning session for a log or a fish.
Thursday the 9th is glassy, with the wind dropping to nothing. Swell is tiny at 2ft, ESE, 9-10 sec. Energy is 120 (weak). It’s surfable, but very ordinary. Not worth rushing out for.
Friday the 10th stays small: 2-3ft, ESE, 10 sec. Clean again with a light offshore or cross-off wind. Energy hovers around 100-150 (weak). Good for a longboard, but there’s no power.
The standout: Saturday the 11th. This is where it gets interesting. On Saturday morning, the swell builds to 3ft from the ESE, but the period jumps to a very long 13 seconds. That’s proper groundswell energy, and the combined energy is strong at 688. Wind is light and cross-off from the WSW. Clean, lined-up waves for a point break style wave. In the afternoon it gets even better: the swell pushes to 5ft from the SSE, 12-second period, and energy spikes to 942 (moderate-to-strong). Light cross-off wind from the SW. This is the best session of the whole forecast. Get on it early.
Sunday the 12th is a letdown after Saturday. Swell back to 4ft, SSE, 11 sec, but the wind turns cross-shore from the NE. It’s marginal.
Monday the 13th is small again: 2-3ft, ESE/SSE, clean but weak. Energy around 200 (weak). Tuesday the 14th is poor with onshore winds and chop. Forget it.
Wednesday the 15th through Friday the 17th is mostly small and poor, with a brief glassy window Thursday morning (2-3ft, ENE short period 5 sec – not great).
The next promising window: Saturday the 19th to Monday the 20th. On Saturday the 19th morning, a clean 5ft S swell with a 12-second period arrives. Wind is cross-off from the SW, light. Energy is 753 (moderate). This is a very good session. Then, on Monday the 20th morning, the swell jumps to a solid 8ft from the SSE with a very long 15-second period. Energy is through the roof at 2721 (strong). But here’s the caveat: the wind is cross-shore light from the SSW, and while it’s not blowing off, it’s likely to make for some challenging conditions given the size. This is expert territory—8ft is big, and with that long period, it will be powerful. Not for the faint-hearted. Still, it’s a standout for the crew who can handle it.
So, in short: Saturday the 11th is your absolute best bet for the entire two weeks. Saturday the 19th morning is another good call, and Monday the 20th is for the experienced chargers. Everything else is small, weak, or chopped out. Stay patient.
