Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tramandai Pier (Platforma) over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Tramandai Pier (Platforma) over the next couple of weeks. It’s gonna be a bit of a mixed bag, with some real clean moments if you time it right, but also a fair bit of wind and chop to sit through.
Right off the bat, Thursday the 9th is nothing to write home about. We’ve got tiny 3ft waves from the ESE with a 10-second period, but the water is sitting at a very unusual 56°, which is a full 7° colder than normal for this time of year. That’s a cold paddle, no doubt. The morning is cross-off, but the afternoon goes glassy which is a win for the surface, but it’s still just small and weak. The combined energy is only 185 – it’s pretty limp.
Friday the 10th is where things start to wake up. The morning looks promising with a clean 4ft swell from the ESE, a 12-second period, and a light WSW cross-off breeze. The energy jumps to 329, which is moderate. That’s some nice, clean, surfable waves – the best of the early run.
Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th are a write-off. The wind swings onshore and kicks up chop, and the energy is moderate but messy. Not worth the paddle, especially with rain showers around.
Now, Monday the 13th is the first real standout. The morning delivers 6ft from the S, but with a short period of 7 seconds. The wind is a clean cross-off from the SW, giving you clean conditions. The energy is a solid 623, so there’s some push. It’s a bit short-period, but the quality is there for an intermediate surfer. The afternoon backs off but stays clean.
Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th get ugly with strong onshore winds and poor conditions. The swell drops right off on Wednesday afternoon to just 2ft and 64 energy – flat.
Then we get a surprise on Thursday the 16th morning. Absolutely glassy conditions, zero wind, and a 5ft ENE swell. The period is only 7 seconds, so it’s a bit weak, but the energy is 273. For a morning glass-off, that’s a fun session for the intermediate crew. The afternoon goes to light rain and a cross-shore, so hit it early.
The 17th and 18th are a mess. The 17th has tiny 0.3ft waves with a very long 16-second period – that’s just a ghost swell. The 18th sees a jump to 6ft from the ENE, but it’s cross-shore and lumpy. Not clean.
The second week, from the 19th to the 23rd, is mostly poor. Persistent ENE swell around 4ft to 6ft, but the wind is on it constantly, creating chop and cross-shore bumps. The 24th of July finally offers something. Friday morning and afternoon both have a clean 5ft swell from the S with a 9-second period, and a solid offshore WNW wind at 15 mph. The energy is 513, so it’s got some punch. That’s a proper clean, offshore session for the experienced crew. That’s probably the best long-range option, but it’s still a few weeks out, so keep an eye on it.
Overall, the best windows are Friday the 10th morning, Monday the 13th morning, and Thursday the 16th morning for the glass. The long-range standout is the 24th of July with the offshore wind. It’s not a classic run for Tramandai, but there are a few gems to pick out.
Rusty.
