Table - best surf conditions forecast for Guarita over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s in store for us at Guarita over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, the ocean’s got some moderate energy, but it’s a mixed bag. There’s a good run of surfable days, but you’ve got to pick your windows. Overall, the pattern is a bit hit-and-miss, with the best conditions coming on the Monday and Wednesday mornings of this first week.
We kick off on Sunday the 12th with a messy start. Morning has rain showers and a strong 15.5 mph cross-off wind from the southwest, but the swell is a bit jumbled. The water temp is about average for the time of year. Not worth paddling out for.
Now, Monday morning, the 13th is where it gets interesting. The wind swings light from the west at 6.2 mph, giving us a clean, cross-off breeze. We’ve got a 4.6ft swell from the south, but the period is a short 8 seconds. The wave energy is moderate at 521. It’s a proper clean session with “very good” conditions forecast. This is one of the true standouts of the whole outlook – get in the water.
Tuesday the 14th turns ugly after the morning. Swell builds to 5.9ft from the southeast with a 10 second period, but it’s cross-shore and then cross-on, all with a chop. Not appealing.
Wednesday morning, the 15th is another beauty. Light north wind at 6.2 mph, cross-off, and a clean 4.3ft ESE swell at 10 seconds. Wave energy is a solid 503. Another top pick if you’re after clean lines. The afternoons go a bit onshore and choppy.
Thursday the 16th drops off into cross-shore and onshore junk. The swell is there but the wind ruins it.
Friday morning, the 17th is worth a mention – rain showers, but the wind is light from the WSW, cross-off, with a 4.9ft swell from the ENE. It’s clean, but the period is short at 9 seconds. Good, but not the best.
Saturday morning, the 18th is the next standout. Light NNE breeze at 9.3 mph, cross-off, and a 5.6ft ENE swell with an 8-second period. Clean conditions and very good surf forecast. This one is a solid score. Wave energy is high at 671.
After that, the surf gets a bit ordinary. Sunday the 19th through to Thursday the 24th sees dropping swell and inconsistent winds. Most mornings are small, in the 2.9ft to 5.2ft range, with a lot of cross-shore or cross-on wind. Not much to write home about.
But then we get a late surprise. Friday morning, the 24th – glassy! Light wind from the east-southeast, 3.1 mph, and a 4.3ft swell from the south-southeast. It’s a short 8-second period, but the clean, glassy surface will make for some fun, user-friendly waves. This is your second standout, late in the run.
The final weekend, the 26th and 27th, slides back into cross-onshore and rainy conditions, with a building 5.9ft swell on Monday the 27th, but the wind is strong and messy.
So, to wrap it up: the Monday 13th morning and Wednesday 15th morning are your absolute best bets early on. Saturday 18th morning is another cracker. And hold out for that Friday 24th morning for a glassy, late-weekend surprise. The rest is a mix of average to poor. Stay picky.
