The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here again, giving it to you in feet and miles. For Salinas, we gotta be patient. The first real swell doesn't show up until Tuesday the 4th, so the beginning of this stretch is flat and a waste of time. There's a few days with nothing worth mentioning.

Okay, Tuesday the 4th morning is our first decent look. We've got a 3ft swell from the south, and the wind is blowing offshore from the WSW, tidying things up nicely. The water temp is about normal for the season. The combined energy is moderate at 347, so there's some push. A fun little shortboard session.

Wednesday the 5th is a no-go with onshore winds.

Now, the standout window is the following weekend and Monday. Sunday the 9th afternoon is where it builds. We've got a 5ft south swell, and the wind turns offshore from the west. That's clean, lined-up surf with a combined energy of 535.

But the best on offer is Monday the 10th morning. That's the one to get excited about. A 8ft south groundswell with a long period of 12 seconds, and light, clean wind from the west. The combined energy is a very strong 1514. This is proper, powerful surf. It's heading towards that expert-only zone—over 8ft in the afternoon—but the morning is solid for experienced surfers. Beginners should sit this one out.

The wind gets messy after that, but Wednesday the 12th cleans right up again. A solid 5ft south swell with that long 12-second period and clean conditions from a light NNW breeze. The combined energy is 714. A great follow-up session.

The last week fades with onshore wind and chop. For a spot like Salinas that rarely breaks and is inconsistent, this is a good run. When it works, it works. Keep your eyes on that Monday the 10th morning window.

Rusty.
