The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming up for Cantao da Praia Grande. The water's sitting at 62°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you might want an extra layer.
Right off the bat, the next couple of days are looking average. There's some small swell but the winds are messy. The first real glimmer of hope shows up on Monday morning, September 21st. We've got a 4ft easterly swell sliding in with glassy conditions – dead calm, absolutely no wind. That combo will clean up the lines beautifully. The energy's moderate at 229, not a powerhouse but clean and fun, and that glassy surface is a major positive for getting smooth rides.
Then hold on for the following Wednesday morning, September 23rd. Again, glassy conditions with a 4ft east swell. Another chance for some pure, clean waves without any wind chop. If you can sneak out for a dawny, that's your window.
Looking further out, the morning of September 24th (Thursday) brings a bump in size to 5ft from the east, but the wind swings round to a cross-shore, so it's not quite as clean as those glassy sessions. Still, you'll get some waves with moderate energy (770). This is a solid choice if you're free that day, but it's a little less certain being a week and a half out.
Overall, the best bets by far are those two glassy mornings on the 21st and the 23rd. Surf's small, but clean. The weekend of the 27th onwards the swell drops right off, so make the most of those mid-week windows.
