The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's get straight into it for Tower Road.
To be honest, the next week and a bit is looking pretty grim. We've got a long dry spell on our hands with barely a ripple. From now all the way through to the end of August and into the first few days of September, it's just tiny, weak waves. You're looking at swell heights barely hitting 0.7ft to 1ft, and the combined energy is in the weak to moderate range (9 to 118). The wind is all over the place too, with a lot of cross-shore and onshore junk, and while we get a few glassy moments like Monday afternoon and Saturday morning, there's just no power in the water to make it worthwhile. For a beginner-friendly sandbar like Tower Road, this is a real bummer.
Now, the first glimmer of hope shows up on Wednesday the 2nd of September. The swell bumps up a little to 2ft from the SE, and the combined energy climbs to 181 (moderate). We get a clean, light offshore wind from the W and NW making for some tidy conditions. It's still small and ordinary, but it's the first time we see a score of 1 out of 10, which is something. The water temp is about average for this time of year.
Thursday the 3rd of September sees a bigger pulse of swell, with heights around 3ft to 4ft from the ESE, and the combined energy hitting 289 to 340 (moderate). That's got more push, but the wind swings to a moderate cross-shore from the NNW, which is going to put a chop on the surface. It's not ideal, but the extra size might offer a few more rideable waves for the more patient surfer.
So, what's the standout? There's no true gem here, but if I had to pick the best on offer, it's Wednesday the 2nd of September. The clean conditions with that light offshore wind make the small, ordinary waves the most user-friendly option of the whole run. For a beginner spot, that's your window.
Overall, expect a lot of flat, poor conditions with a small window of clean, small surf around the 2nd of September. Keep an eye on it, but don't get your hopes up too high. Rusty out.
