Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tower Road over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ at Tower Road for the next couple of weeks. Gotta be straight with you – it’s a grim stretch. We’re lookin’ at a long, quiet run of tiny, weak surf and poor conditions, so don’t go gettin’ your hopes up.
The water’s a real standout though – at 78°F, that’s a solid 6°F warmer than normal for this time of year. Feels more like a bath than the ocean out there. That’s the only highlight for a while.
We start off Wednesday the 8th with a measly 2ft of swell from the ENE, and a light NE breeze in the morning keeps it glassy, but the wave energy is weak at 34. That afternoon the wind swings SE and gets messy, cross-onshore. Thursday ain’t any better – tiny 1ft, and a stiff SSE wind blows cross-off in the morning, then cross-shore in the afternoon. The 8-second period on Thursday morning gives it a little bit of shape, but there’s just no size or energy to work with. Friday morning the 10th has a light offshore from the West, but again it’s only 2ft and weak energy (41).
Saturday the 11th afternoon is the only moment that might tempt a longboarder out – glassy as can be, no wind, with 1ft from the SSE. It’s tiny, but it’ll be clean. That’s about the best you’ll see in this first week, and that’s sayin’ somethin’.
By Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th, we get a bump in size – up to 3ft Sunday afternoon, then 4ft Monday morning and 6ft Monday afternoon – but it’s all onshore wind from the ENE, making it a choppy, blown-out mess. The combined energy jumps to 253 on Monday afternoon, so there’s some push, but the wind just ruins it. That setup is way more interesting for kite surfing than paddlin’ – you’d be better off with a kite than a surfboard those days.
Tuesday the 14th morning has a glimmer of hope: 4ft from the ESE with an 8-second period and a light cross-on breeze from the North, but it’s still rated marginal at best (212 energy). Wind goes cross-off in the afternoon, but the swell drops back to 4ft.
Wednesday the 15th morning is the only other half-decent window: 3ft ESE, clean with a gentle offshore from the WSW. That’s surfable but very ordinary, energy only 81. That pattern of small, clean but weak waves carries through to the 19th and 20th, with nothing breaking the 3ft mark. The closest we get to a standout is that glassy 3ft on Friday the 17th morning and Saturday the 18th morning with a 4ft ENE swell and a moderate offshore – but again, the energy is low (52 and 74), and the conditions are just ‘ordinary.’
We then drop back into the doldrums from the 19th through the 23rd – tiny waves, choppy or cross-off winds, and poor surf conditions across the board. The gap between anything even remotely worth paddling out for is several days long, and even then, it’s barely a ripple.
Honestly, this is one of those stretches where you leave the boards at home. The swell just doesn’t have any juice, and the winds don’t do us any favours. Maybe check back in a week or two – forecasts can change, and it doesn’t usually stay this flat for too long around here.
Stay patient, catch ya next time.
