Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rehoboth Main over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s on the table for Rehoboth Main. I gotta be straight with you – the next week and a half is a bit of a bust. The energy just isn’t there, and when it does show up, the wind and conditions are gonna mess it up. The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, nothing weird going on there.
We start off on Wednesday, July 8th. It’s weak out there. We’re looking at a tiny 2ft swell from the ENE, with a short period of 6 seconds. The combined energy is pitiful, barely registering (40). On top of that, we’ve got a cross-onshore breeze making it choppy. Thursday and Friday are just more of the same – small, weak, and messy.
There’s a small window on Friday morning, July 10th. The swell drops even more to about 2ft from the SSE, but the wind swings light offshore from the NW, cleaning the surface right up. The combined energy is still low (39), and the period is short at 7 seconds, so it’ll be weak and gutless. For a beginner on a longboard, you might find a few crumbly closeouts, but it’s not worth getting excited about.
Saturday and Sunday, July 11th and 12th, are a write-off. The swell is tiny and the wind is onshore or cross-shore. The energy is in the teens – barely a ripple.
Monday, July 13th, we see the biggest swell of the whole forecast, pushing 4ft from the E, with a period of 6 seconds. The combined energy finally climbs into triple digits (105). But here’s the catch – it’s a strong onshore wind blowing straight into it, making it a sloppy, blown-out mess. The wave comment even says “poor surf conditions.” This is a classic case of a beach break getting destroyed by onshore wind. For paddle surfing, it’s a no-go. To be honest, with that wind and lumpy water, this setup would actually be more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
The rest of that week into the next is a total drought. The swell drops back to nothing – 2ft and below. The energy numbers are in the basement (between 14 and 38). There’s a brief moment on Wednesday morning, July 15th, with a glassy 2ft swell from the SE, and the period stretches to 8 seconds. But the score is a 1 out of 10 – “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions.” It’s rideable but that’s about all you can say for it.
From there, it’s a long, flat run right through to the end of the forecast on July 23rd. You’ll see periods of clean conditions, like on Monday, July 20th with a light offshore, but the swell is a pathetic 1ft to 2ft. No power, no push.
Honestly, if you’re looking for a standout, there isn’t one. The best this place has to offer in the next 16 days is that glassy Wednesday morning on the 15th for the absolute beginner, or maybe the Friday morning on the 10th if you’re desperate for a clean, tiny wave. For anyone else, leave the board in the car and come back later. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a long stretch of nothing good.
Rusty.
