Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s break down what’s coming.
To be straight with you, the next 16 days look pretty tough. We’re talking about 36th Street (United States), a beach and jetty spot, and the forecast is mostly small, weak, and messed up by the wind. The water is sitting at about 75°, which is 4° warmer than usual for this time of year – feels like a warm bath out there.
The start, from Saturday the 4th through Monday the 6th, is a total loss. Tiny surf, poor conditions, and cross/onshore winds. Don't even bother. There’s a slight pulse on Tuesday the 7th. The swell hits 4ft from the ENE, and we get clean conditions with a cross-offshore wind from the north. The wave energy is moderate (63). That Tuesday morning is your best bet for the first week, but it’s nothing special. Wednesday the 8th morning is surfable but very ordinary, with a 2ft ENE swell and a clean northerly breeze. It’s the only session that even gets a ‘1’ for surfability, so that’s your window.
After that, it’s a wasteland. From Thursday the 9th all the way to Friday the 17th, you’ve got over a week of poor conditions. Small waves, mostly under 3ft, and the wind is all over the shop. There’s a brief look on Sunday the 12th afternoon with a 3ft swell from the east and clean cross-offshore wind, but there are storms around. Not ideal. Even the days with glassy conditions on Saturday the 11th and Saturday the 18th have almost no swell at all (0.3ft and 1ft), so there’s nothing to ride.
The best of a bad lot is that Tuesday morning, the 7th of July. It’s not a standout, but if you’re itching for a session, that’s your moment. The swell is from the ENE, which isn't ideal (it likes NE), but the clean conditions make it the only real option. For the rest, with the onshore winds and small, weak surf, this spot looks more like a kiteboarding zone than a surfing spot. It’s a rough forecast, but things can change, so don’t write it off completely.
Rusty.
