Table - best surf conditions forecast for 36th Street over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again, same spot, same time window, just in feet and miles per hour now.
Let’s be honest, the first ten days or so are a total bust. From Friday the 10th all the way through to Monday the 20th, we’re talking barely a ripple. The swell is tiny, the period is short, and the combined energy is showing numbers below 50 (weak). Just a whole lot of nothing.
Then, on Tuesday the 21st, the morning session finally brings a little life into the water. We’ve got chest-high swell pushing 3-4 ft out of the ESE with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy reads 279 (moderate), so there’s some actual grunt to it. The wind is a light cross-offshore out of the NNW, keeping things tidy. And the water? It’s sitting at 76° , which is a solid 4° warmer than average for this time of year – ridiculously warm for a July morning.
After that, the pulse fades. The winds swing onshore and cross-shore through the rest of the week, so the conditions get lumpy and choppy. The swell holds around the 3 ft range through the 23rd and 24th, but the wind is junk, so it’s not worth paddling out for unless you’re desperate. The 25th offers a clean offshore window in the afternoon, but the swell is tiny at just 2 ft.
If you’re a learner, that Tuesday the 21st morning is your window: clean, small, and the water is bath-warm. For the experienced crew, hang tight – this stretch doesn’t have much to offer except that one morning.
Rusty, out.
