The Lowdown
Alright, listen up. I've been staring at the charts for the next couple of weeks, and I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. It's flat out bleak. We got a long stretch of nothing coming our way.
Right now, water temp is 69°, nothing weird about that. But that's where the good news ends.
Friday morning, we got a weak 2ft of east swell, but the wind is blowing onshore from the ENE at 12 mph, making it a total mess. The energy is weak at 54. Friday afternoon is more of the same, no good.
Saturday morning, the swell jumps to 5ft, but the period is a junky 6 seconds. That's just windswell, and the east wind is still on it. The energy gets moderate at 156, but it's gonna be a choppy, blown-out mess. Not worth your time. Saturday afternoon, the wind finally drops and goes offshore from the WSW, but the swell drops to 4ft and the period stays short. It might be ridable on a log, but it's pretty poor.
Sunday is a complete write-off. The swell just vanishes, dropping to 1ft. It's got a long 12-second period, but it's coming from the ESE with a cross-onshore wind. Honestly, you'd be better off staying home.
And here's the real kicker: from Monday the 24th all the way through September 5th, we're in a serious drought. The swell is almost non-existent. We're talking 1ft to 3ft at best, with periods all over the place. A lot of days have glassy or offshore winds, which is nice for the surface, but there's just no waves to push you around. The energy is weak, often in the low double digits or even single digits. This is a long, flat spell, and it's pretty normal for this area.
There is one tiny blip on Saturday the 23rd, in the afternoon. A little 1ft swell with a 12-second period. The wind will be cross-offshore from the south, which is okay, but it's just not enough to get the heart pumping.
So, look. I'll tell you straight: there are no good surf options on the horizon for the next two weeks. It's a blank run. The only place you might find something is at White Crest Beach, and that's only if you're a beginner or just want to splash around. Honestly, with the tiny waves and the wind we're seeing, this setup is more interesting for kitesurfing than paddle surfing.
Forecasts can change, so I wouldn't sell the board just yet, but for now, I'd keep the longboard in the car and just enjoy the beach vibes. It's a waiting game.
Rusty.
