Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Jetty over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here.
Honestly, mate, I’ve got to be straight with you—this 16-day window is a real struggle. There’s basically nothing worth paddling out for until the 21st of July. That’s a gap of over a week and a half of flat, weak, or messy conditions. The Jetty is a beginner-friendly sandbar setup that’s fairly consistent, but the swell just isn’t showing up. When it does, it’s tiny, short-period, and the wind is usually working against it.
The water temp is sitting at 76°, which is a whopping 4° warmer than what’s normal for this time of year—so it’s a weirdly warm winter, but that doesn’t help the waves.
The only real standout is the morning of Tuesday, 21st July. The swell pops up to 4 ft from the ESE with a 7-second period, and the combined energy reads 283—that’s moderate energy, but it’s the biggest we’ve seen. The kicker is the light, cross-offshore wind from the north, keeping things clean. For a beginner spot, this is actually the best on offer. It’s still small, but if you’re keen to get wet, that’s your window. The afternoon that same day turns onshore and choppy, so don’t sleep on that morning session.
The rest of the outlook is a write-off—tiny swell, cross-shore or onshore winds, and the occasional bit of chop. Even the 24th and 25th of July show a little more energy (223 on the 24th morning), but the wind is messy and it’s not coming together for a decent ride. Honestly, this stretch looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
Stay patient, mate. It’s a flat spell, but it won’t last forever.
Rusty.
