Alright, let's talk about what's on offer at The Jetty. Gotta be straight with you – this stretch is looking pretty flat and uninspiring for the foreseeable future. There’s a long gap coming up with absolutely no decent surf to speak of.
Right at the start, from Saturday July 4th through until late July, the waves are just tiny and weak. We’re looking at swell heights that barely scrape 1.3ft to 1.6ft at best, and that’s on a small, short-period SE windswell. The energy is pathetic, with combined swell energy readings barely getting into the double digits – like 25 or 18 – and that’s weak energy. The winds aren’t helping much either; most days have a cross or onshore component that messes with what little shape there is. A few windows, like Tuesday afternoon the 7th, do get glassy with a light southwesterly, but with a piddly 1.6ft, 6-second swell, it’s barely a ripple.
There is a slight bump in the middle of the second week. Around Tuesday the 14th we see a bit more push, but the winds switch around. Wednesday the 15th morning has a modest 3.3ft swell from the south with a 6-second period, but a moderate cross-shore wind will chop it up.
Honestly, the only time things even start to look interesting is on Sunday the 19th of July. The morning brings in a 3.9ft SSW swell with a combined energy of 182 – that’s moderate wave energy. But it’s coming with a gentle cross-onshore wind, so expect a bit of chop on the surface. For a beginner spot like The Jetty, that size is right on the edge, and the quality isn’t there to make it a standout.
So, the reality is: there are no strong recommendations here. It’s a poor run of small, weak, and often messy surf. This stretch isn't showing any of that magic. Keep your eyes on the charts, but for now, the board’s staying in the car.
