Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rat Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Rat Beach is offering over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, it’s a bit of a slow start. We’ve got a small window of activity, but the first few days are pretty much a write-off with tiny surf and poor conditions. The early part of the week is a struggle, but things do eventually pick up a little.
The first real flicker of hope comes on Wednesday morning, the 15th of July. It’s still tiny, only 1ft of swell from the SW, but the wind goes glassy. That’s a rare treat, and you’ll get some clean little waves if you’re desperate and have a longboard.
The first proper standout is Saturday morning, the 18th of July. The swell bumps up to 2ft from the SW, with a nice long 18-second period. The wind is a light cross-offshore breeze, so it’ll be clean. The combined energy is moderate (278), so it has a bit more push. It’s not going to be massive, but for a shallow reef like this, that length of period can make the waves stand up nicely. It’s the best on offer in the whole forecast.
After that, it goes pretty flat and messy again. There’s a couple of offshore mornings around the 27th of July, with a similar 1-2ft SW swell, but it’s a long way off and the energy is a lot weaker. The long-range looks promising in terms of a clean wind, but don’t bank on it.
The water temperature is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
So, the one to circle is Saturday morning, the 18th. It’s nothing to write home about in size, but with those conditions, it’s the pick of the bunch for a fun little session.
Rusty.
