The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down Burnout over the next two weeks, in feet and miles per hour.

First off, the forecast is rough for a while. But Wednesday the 26th of August morning gives a small window of fun. We’ve got a clean 3ft south swell with a 12-second period and light cross-offshore winds from the SSE at 6 mph. The combined energy of all swells is moderate at 338, and it’s a "good surf conditions" call. It’s a fairly consistent spot for beginners, but crowds are sometimes around. Water temp is about average for the time of year.

Wednesday afternoon gets choppy with a cross-on wind, and the next few days through Thursday, Friday, and Saturday stay blown out with onshore winds. Swell stays between 1ft and 3ft but quality is poor. Thursday the 28th of August morning has a long-period 17-second groundswell at 2ft from the SSW, but onshore WSW winds at 6 mph ruin it. That long period groundswell doesn’t love the beach setup here.

Sunday the 30th of August morning is a better call – clean 3ft SSW swell, 15-second period, and light SSE cross-offshore wind at 6 mph. Combined energy is moderate (370). That’s a solid pick for the first week.

Monday through the start of September is a dead zone with constant onshore winds. Then Thursday the 3rd of September morning flips everything – glassy conditions with 0 mph wind from the SE, and a 3ft SSW swell at 15 seconds. The combined energy is moderate-strong at 540. This is the absolute best session in the whole forecast: glassy, clean, and decent power. Get on it.

From Thursday afternoon onward, it’s onshore winds again through the second week. Some moderate energy days (combined energy in the 400-500 range) but wind keeps it marginal or poor. The 8th and 9th of September offer a little hope but cross-on breezes kill it.

The best shots are Wednesday 26th morning, Sunday 30th morning, and the clear winner is Thursday 3rd September morning for glassy perfection. The rest? Gaps of several days with no good surf – that’s normal here, but things can change.

Rusty.
