Ouvidor Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Right now, things are flat and pretty average for the most part. We’ve got a patchy run of small, weak swell hitting Ouvidor (Rio de Janeiro) over the next few days, but honestly, it’s not doing much. The water’s sitting at 62°F, which is a bit colder than usual for this time of year – nothing crazy, but you’ll feel it on the paddle out.

The first real chance of anything worthwhile doesn’t show until Sunday the 20th, and even then it’s a mixed bag. We see a moderate bump in swell – around 7ft to 8ft from the NE – with moderate energy pushing through (1078 to 1196 in the combined swell energy). It’s clean with light winds, but here’s the kicker: this spot is a beginner-friendly beach break, and that size is already pushing past the comfort zone. It’s too big for the average surfer, and the short 8-second period means it’s going to be crumbly and disorganized. Only the more experienced crew will be tempted, and even then it’s not going to be pretty.

Monday the 21st still has some size, 5ft on the morning with glassy conditions, but it’s dropping fast. After that, we sink back into the small stuff – 3ft to 4ft – with cross-onshore winds and a lot of chop. Not much to write home about.

Then there’s a quiet spell from the 22nd through the 25th – just knee-to-waist high junk, mostly poor conditions. The standout window is actually the 26th of September, Saturday morning. We’ve got 5ft from the ENE with a bit more push in the water (270 in energy), light cross-off winds, and the notes say wind and tide are favorable. But again – and I can’t stress this enough – the swell is too big for this break given its beginner-friendly nature. It’s rideable for sure, but it’s not the clean, fun-size day most of us want.

The last couple of days, the 28th and 29th, flatten right back out. The 28th has some clean, 3ft glassy waves in the morning, but it’s very ordinary. Nothing that’ll have you rushing out of bed.

Honestly, across this whole 16-day window, there’s no standout day that I’d be circling on the calendar. The energy is mostly weak, the winds are mostly cross or onshore, and the few cleaner windows coincide with swell that’s just too fat and short-period for this beach break to handle well. If you’re a beginner, you’re sitting this one out. If you’re an expert, there’s maybe a couple of window at dawn, but it’s not a classic. It’s one of those quiet stretches where the sandbars and the wind just aren’t lining up.

Keep an eye on it, though – forecasts shift, and a week out can look totally different. But right now? I’d say leave the board in the car and maybe bring the fins for a splash.
