Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let’s get into it. The next couple of weeks are serving up a real mixed bag. There’s a solid start, a bit of a lull, and then what looks like a powerful finish for those who can handle it.
Monday afternoon, we’re looking at a glassy little session. The wind is barely a whisper out of the south at just 3 mph, turning the ocean to glass. We’ve got a 4 ft swell rolling in from the SE with a period of 10 seconds. The energy is moderate (465) and the water is a frigid 60°, which is a huge 6° colder than normal for this time of year – you’ll want a thick suit. It’s not the biggest, but with those clean conditions at Barrinha, it’s a solid choice.
Tuesday morning picks up a touch, with the swell bumping to 5 ft from the south, but the wind swings cross-off from the SSW at 9 mph. It’ll be clean, but that’s a bit more on the size. The energy is climbing (513). By the afternoon, a cross-on wind from the SE at 6 mph kicks up some ripples on a 6 ft SSW swell. It gets a bit messy.
Wednesday morning is another beauty. Glassy again with a WNW wind at just 3 mph, and a nice 4 ft swell from the south (344 energy). Perfect for a quiet paddle. The afternoon turns cross-on with a NE breeze, and the swell drops to 3 ft.
From Thursday through Saturday, things go a bit flat and ordinary. Swell sizes drop under 3 ft, and the wind is mostly cross-on. Nothing to get excited about.
Now, Sunday the 12th is where we see a real spark. The morning has a cross-off wind from the SSW at 6 mph, and the swell is 4 ft from the ESE with a long 12-second period. The energy is pumping at 860, and it’s forecast to be very good surf. This is the standout of the first week—clean lines, good push.
Sunday afternoon gets a bit rowdy. An 8 ft S swell hits with a short 8-second period, and cross-shore winds keep it from perfection. It’s big enough to be expert-only territory.
Monday the 13th is gnarly. The morning sees an 8 ft S swell (10 seconds) with a strong cross-off wind at 12 mph. Energy is very strong at 2423. This is serious, powerful surf for experienced surfers only. By the afternoon, it drops to 7 ft from the SSE.
After that, from Tuesday the 14th all the way through to Sunday the 19th, the forecast is mostly poor. We get a mix of onshore winds, choppy conditions, and small, weak swell. There are several days here with no real surf to recommend.
Monday the 20th shakes things up with a raw, powerful swell. The morning has a 7 ft E swell (8 seconds, 1214 energy), and by the afternoon, it jumps to a chunky 12 ft from the ESE (10 seconds, 2025 energy). The wind is cross-on at 12 mph, so it’s going to be messy and big—strictly for the hardcore.
Finally, Tuesday the 21st is the real payoff for those who wait. The morning brings an 8 ft ESE swell with a 10-second period, and a strong offshore wind out of the SW at 16 mph. That’s clean, powerful, and lined up (1359 energy). The afternoon is even better: still 8 ft, but from the east, and the offshore wind holds at 12 mph. The energy hits 1524, and the conditions are called excellent for experienced surfers. This is the best session of the whole outlook—a proper, charging day for the crew that knows what they’re doing.
Stay safe out there.
