Table - best surf conditions forecast for Barrinha over the next 16 days.
Alright crew, Rusty here. Let’s run through the local surf outlook for the next couple of weeks.
First thing, the water. At Barrinha it’s sitting at 60°, which is a massive 7° colder than you’d expect for this time of year. That’s a big anomaly, so you’ll want a thick wetsuit or a hood.
The surf kicks off on Sunday morning (12 July) with a clean 5ft south swell, 11-second period, and a cross-offshore breeze. The energy is moderate at 870. It’s a decent opener, nothing wild, but it’s rideable.
The real standout is Monday morning, 13 July. We’re looking at a solid 7ft south swell, 8-second period, with offshore wind. That’s clean, punchy, and the energy jumps to 1033. This is the best session of the first week, hands down. It’s intermediate-level, but it’s got some grunt.
Tuesday morning (14 July) is a special mention because the wind goes glassy. Absolutely flat calm. The swell is 6ft from the southeast with a 10-second period, and energy is still strong at 712. If you want silky smooth, butter-smooth waves, that’s your morning.
Then the wheels fall off. From Wednesday morning (15 July) all the way through to Wednesday (22 July), the wind is onshore and the swell disappears. We’re talking tiny, choppy slop with energy readings dropping into the pathetic double digits. That’s a solid 8-day stretch of nothing. Don’t bother.
Things start to look up again on Thursday afternoon (23 July) with a small 2ft south swell and a cross-offshore breeze, but it’s ordinary. The real return comes on Friday morning, 24 July. Clean 3ft south swell, 11-second period, light cross-offshore wind, energy back up to 268. By the afternoon it goes glassy with a 3ft south swell at 12 seconds, energy at 344. That’s the window to watch in the second week.
Saturday (25 July) and Sunday (26 July) keep it going with 4ft to 4ft south swells, clean winds, and energy around the 500 mark. It’s not huge, but it’s clean and fun. The long-range call on Monday morning (27 July) is a warning though: 8ft southeast swell, 9-second period, but the wind is onshore and the conditions look messy. That’s expert-only size and likely a choppy mess.
The best waves of the whole forecast? Monday morning, 13 July: 7ft south swell, offshore wind, strong energy. That’s the one to circle. The glassy Tuesday morning (14 July) is a close second for the cleanest conditions you’ll see.
Rusty.
