The Lowdown
Alright, let’s break down North Pier (Narragansett). Water temp is 70°F, pretty normal for July. But the swell? Barely a whisper for the first five days – from Tuesday 14th through Saturday 19th we’re seeing 0.3ft to maybe 2ft on Sunday morning, all short-period junk. Winds are mostly cross-off or offshore, so it’s clean but flat. Not worth wetting a wetsuit.
Then Monday 20th morning we get a tiny pulse – 4ft from the S with 8-second period and moderate energy (161). That’s the biggest, and with W 12 mph offshore it’ll be clean, but still just surfable – nothing special. Tuesday 21st morning is 3ft (8s, 112 energy), light NW cross-off – again, small. Wednesday 22nd gets choppy with onshore wind. Thursday 23rd morning is glassy but only 2ft – maybe a longboard glide. Friday 24th and Saturday 25th keep offering 2–3ft, winds cross-off – ho-hum.
The only other chance is Wednesday 29th morning: glassy NE 3 mph, 3ft S (8s, 105 energy). Clean but tiny. No real standout. The spot really wants E swell, but we’re stuck with S and SE – so the break isn’t catching it right. Crowds are sometimes, but with waves this small it’ll be quiet. Sheltered spot, so it doesn’t handle big energy. If you’re a beginner wanting a safe, small wave, try the mornings on 20th, 21st, or 29th. Otherwise, this 16-day stretch is a wash. Forecasts can change, but for now – I’d sit this one out.
