Table - best surf conditions forecast for North Pier (Narragansett) over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s be real. I’ve had a look at the charts for North Pier (Narragansett), and I’m not going to sugarcoat it: this is a tough stretch. We’re looking at a 16-day window, and the first week is pretty much a write-off for any proper surfing. There’s a long gap of quiet until we get a tiny pulse of something.
The first real hiccup of surfable energy doesn’t show up until Monday, July 19th. Before that, from now through the weekend, it’s flat. Tiny, weak, and just not worth paddling out for. The wind is mostly cross-off or cross, which is okay, but with nothing to push you around, it’s a wasted session.
Monday the 19th morning finally brings a bump of swell. We’re looking at 4 ft from the South, with a short period of 7 seconds. The combined energy is moderate (110). It’s still going to be a bit messy, and the water temperature is sitting at 70°, which is about average for this time of year. The wind is a cross-off from the SW at 12 mph, so it’ll be clean enough. It’s not going to be a classic, but it’s the first sign of life.
The standout, if you can call it that, is a slightly better window on Monday the 20th. The morning will be glassy with a light 2 ft swell from the South, but the energy is weak (41). The real moment comes Monday afternoon, with 4 ft from the South, a period of 9 seconds, and a solid 184 combined energy. The wind is light from the SSW at 9 mph, keeping it clean. This is the best of the bunch, but it’s still a sheltered spot, so don’t expect barrels. Crowds are a possibility here, as it’s a spot that sometimes gets busy.
Tuesday the 21st morning has a similar 3 ft, but the energy is still moderate (160). It’s surfable, but nothing to write home about. After that, it fades back into the doldrums, with tiny, inconsistent waves and onshore winds for the rest of the week.
So, the honest truth? There’s only one real stand-out day: Monday the 20th, especially the afternoon. It’s a short window of clean, rideable surf. Everything else is a gamble. If you’re desperate, you can paddle out on the 19th, but you’ll be working for it. The rest of the 16 days is a blank run. That’s fairly normal for this area, so don’t lose hope. Forecasts can change.
Rusty.
