Table - best surf conditions forecast for North Pier (Narragansett) over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty checkin’ in from the local sand. Let’s be straight with you – we’re looking at a real dry spell for North Pier in Narragansett. For the next week and a half, we’ve got tiny waves and poor conditions stacked up day after day. The combined swell energy is barely flickering, mostly sitting below 20 (weak energy). We’re talking knee-high slop at best. Thursday the 9th through Saturday the 18th is a write-off – a long gap of nothing really surfable, with onshore winds and those little wind ripples that just mess up what little is there. The water’s a touch warmer than normal at 70° for the time of year, but that’s about the only bright spot.
Things finally stir a bit on Sunday the 19th of July. We get a pulse of S swell pushing 4ft with a period of 8 seconds, and the combined energy jumps to 165 (moderate energy). It’s not a standout by any means – the wind’s light cross-onshore and we’ve got light rain, so it’ll be lumpy. The break is sheltered here, so it might clean up a touch, but it’s still just a small, short-period wind swell. That energy sticks around into Monday the 20th morning with 4ft swell from the south (247 combined energy – moderate), but again, the wind is cross-shore, not ideal. The period’s short at 8 seconds, so don’t expect much push or shape. For Tuesday and Wednesday, the swell fades back to under 3ft and the wind gets messy.
Honestly, nothing here is worth paddling out for unless you’re desperate. The best on offer is probably Monday the 20th morning with that 4ft swell and light NNE wind, but it’s still cross-shore, so it’ll be a bit bumpy. Not a day to get excited about. Crowds are possible here, but with surf this poor, you’ll have the place to yourself. There’s no standout swell direction matching the optimum east either, so it’s a struggle. Keep your board in the car and your eyes on the long-range forecasts – this area tends to bounce back.
Rusty.
