The Lowdown
Hey, Rusty here. Let’s break down the next couple weeks at North Pier. Gotta be straight with you—there’s a long dry spell right off the bat. Nothing rideable from Saturday the 18th through Monday the 21st. Just flat, tiny bumps you wouldn’t bother paddling out for. That’s a solid five days of disappointment.
First window we get is Wednesday, July 22nd. It’s not pretty, but there’s some size. Morning shows 6ft from the south, 8-second period, with combined swell energy sitting at 411. The cross-off wind keeps the surface glassy, but it’s a messy deal overall—labeled marginal. The afternoon kicks up to 6ft with energy at 521. Definitely expert territory at that size, and the crowd factor is “sometimes,” so you might have some company. Not ideal, but if you need a fix, that’s your best shot.
Thursday, July 23rd is a step down. Morning swell drops to 4ft from the south, 9-second period, energy at 264. Wind stays cross-off, but the vibe is just ordinary. Afternoon improves with an offshore breeze, but the wave size is down to 4ft. Gets clean, but you’re not gonna be telling stories about it.
After that, Friday the 24th through Monday the 28th is a wash. Tiny surf, poor conditions. The only real highlight is that Wednesday the 22nd, and even that’s a gritty, challenging session. Nothing else in the two-week window lights up. Forecasts might change, but as it stands, it’s a rough run.
Rusty.
