Table - best surf conditions forecast for Outside Corner over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. We’ve got a solid run of surf coming up at Outside Corner, a reef and point setup that’s exposed to the south-west. This is advanced territory, so leave the foam boards at home. The water’s sitting at 80.2°, which is pretty much bang on normal for this time of year.
The first real action kicks off Saturday the 11th. Saturday afternoon brings a clean 4.6ft south-west swell, period around 14 seconds, with a moderate offshore breeze from the ESE. That’s a proper groundswell, and the energy reading is a strong 1219. It’s going to be a bit of a paddle out there, but the shape should be good and the conditions are clean. This is the standout of the early run.
Sunday the 12th sees the swell drop a touch. Morning is 3.0ft from the south-west at 13 seconds, still offshore but a bit weaker. Afternoon shifts to 2.6ft from the south-south-west. Both are clean, but nothing to write home about.
Monday the 13th has a real surprise. The morning is marginal with only 1.6ft, but the afternoon sees a 3.0ft south-south-west swell with a very long period of 21 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell, and the energy jumps to 1057. This is a classic reef/point scenario – long period like that will set up nicely here, with clean lines and long lulls between sets. It’s a gem for the experienced crew.
Tuesday the 14th is the big one. Morning brings 5.9ft at 17 seconds, afternoon bumps to 6.9ft at 18 seconds. Both are south-south-west, with moderate ESE winds keeping it clean. The energy is massive – 2753 and 2738. That’s a strong, powerful swell, but at 6.9ft it’s getting into expert-only territory. The wave quality is described as excellent, and with that offshore flow, it’ll be a ripper for those who can handle it.
From Wednesday the 15th through to Friday the 17th, the swell holds around 4.6ft to 6.6ft, with periods between 14 and 16 seconds. The winds stay offshore, but the scores dip a little. Wednesday morning is 6.6ft, afternoon 5.9ft – both from the south-south-west. The wind picks up to a fresh breeze on Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning, which will put a bit of texture on the face. Energy readings are still strong (2160, 1757, 1113). Thursday morning is a standout though – 4.9ft, 15 seconds, south-south-west, with a moderate offshore breeze. That’s excellent surf for experienced surfers. The energy is 1113, and it’s clean.
Saturday the 18th is a solid, consistent day. 4.9ft from the south-west, 14-15 seconds, offshore winds, and energy readings just over 1000. Not the biggest, but reliable and clean.
Sunday the 19th is the next big highlight. Morning brings 3.6ft from the south-south-west but with a very long period of 21 seconds. The energy jumps to 1626. That’s a classic groundswell setup – long, clean lines, excellent for the point. Afternoon picks up to 5.6ft at 19 seconds, energy 2533. Both are excellent, with moderate offshore winds. This is a stand-out day for the crew who know how to read a long-period swell.
Monday the 20th is the biggest of the run. Morning is 7.5ft at 17 seconds, afternoon 6.9ft at 16 seconds. Both from the south-south-west. The energy is huge – 3100 in the morning, 2463 in the afternoon. This is expert-only territory. The wind is a fresh ESE offshore, so there’ll be a bit of chop, but the power is undeniable.
Tuesday the 21st drops back to 5.9ft in the morning, 5.6ft in the afternoon, with a moderate to fresh offshore breeze. The energy is still solid (1490, 1252). Good, but not the peak.
Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd are quieter. The swell drops to 3.6ft to 4.3ft, with periods of 13 to 16 seconds. The energy is moderate (732 to 1042). The conditions are still clean, but it’s a lull in the action.
Friday the 24th sees a return. The morning is 4.9ft at 14 seconds, with a fresh offshore breeze. Then the afternoon is the real standout: 6.2ft from the south-south-west, 16 seconds, and a massive energy reading of 3134. That’s a solid, powerful swell, and the wind is moderate offshore. This is a late-run highlight.
