Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s break it down.

Only one spot is really in the conversation for the next couple of weeks: Temples. It’s a reef and point break that likes a SW swell, and there’s a whole lot of action lined up, especially for the advanced crowd. Water temp’s around 80°, which is right about average for this time of year—nothing unusual there.

First real surf kicks off Saturday morning, July 11. Swell is 5ft from the SW with a solid 14-second period—real groundswell, plenty of grunt—and a clean ESE moderate breeze holding offshore. The combined energy reads 1367, so there’s proper power behind it. This is top-shelf stuff for experienced surfers, and yeah, Temples can get crowded sometimes, but for a session like this, you’ll have company. The afternoon stays clean at 5ft.

Sunday the 12th drops a bit to 3ft in the morning and 3ft in the afternoon, but still clean and offshore. The periods are around 13 seconds, so the shape is still there, just a smaller day.

Monday the 13th is interesting: morning swell is only 2ft but from the SSW with a very long 23-second period. That’s a serious pulse, and the energy reads 667 in the morning, jumping to 1073 in the afternoon. At a reef and point, that long period will wrap in and give proper lines—not too straight like a beach break. The afternoon has 3ft and is excellent. This is a standout for the skilled crew.

Tuesday the 14th is the real monster. Morning: 6ft from the SSW, 17-second period, and 2430 combined energy—that’s strong, heavy surf. Offshore winds still holding. Afternoon gets even bigger: 7ft, 18-second period, and 2730 energy. This is expert-only territory. Over 6ft with that much energy at a reef and point means serious, lined-up waves. If you’re not experienced, stay on the beach. This is the best of the whole run.

From Wednesday the 15th through Friday the 17th, surf stays in the mix but gets a bit more marginal with questionable tides. Swells bounce between 4ft and 7ft, winds stay offshore but pick up to a fresh breeze (around 18-19 mph) at times, so it’s clean but a bit more blown. Energy stays moderate to strong.

From Saturday the 18th through the end of the forecast, we’ve got mostly 4ft to 8ft SSW swells, persistent offshore or cross-off winds, and combined energy ranging from moderate (691) to very strong (3407 on Monday July 20). That Monday the 20th is another standout for the expert crew: 8ft, 17-second period, and a huge 3407 energy in the morning. Winds are fresh offshore, so it’ll be clean but heavy. After the 20th, the swell tapers but stays surfable through to the 26th, with some rain or thunderstorm risk but still offshore enough to keep it working.

There’s no surf recommendation before July 11, so the window starts clean and strong. Temples is fairly consistent when the swell and wind line up like this, and they’re lining up.

Standout sessions: Tuesday July 14 morning and afternoon are the absolute peak—big, powerful, clean. Monday July 20 morning is another heavy one. Both for experts only. For a more manageable but still quality session, Saturday July 11 morning and Monday July 13 afternoon are your best bets.

Rusty.
