The Lowdown

Right, mate, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks at Temples. This is a reef and point set-up that loves a solid SW groundswell, and boy, is it getting one.

The forecast cranks up proper on Tuesday the 14th. We've got a serious pulse of SSW groundswell rolling in, hitting 6.9ft with a very long period of 18 seconds. The energy is massive, coming in at a strong 2685. And the wind? Glassy offshore from the ESE. It’s an advanced spot for a reason – this is big, powerful, directional swell that will be lining up beautifully on the point. The water temp is a balmy 80.1°F, right on the money for this time of year. Honestly, that Tuesday afternoon session is the one to circle. It will be a standout.

The wave energy is still pumping on Wednesday morning the 15th, with 6.6ft swell and a 16-second period, and the offshore wind holds. It’s excellent, though slightly below that Tuesday peak. Things start to drop off through Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday, but you're still getting a clean, offshore wave in the 4.6ft to 5.9ft range under fresh ESE wind. The quality is solid, but the real magic fades after that first 24 hours.

From Friday the 17th right through to the start of the following week, the forecast is consistent but marginal. You'll find clean, offshore waves every morning, between 3.6ft and 4.6ft with 13 to 15-second periods, and moderate to *fresh* wave energy (in the 700 to 1100 bracket). It's not headline stuff, but it's a reliable, ridable window for the advanced crew with no crowds – just strong ESE winds.

Then, hold onto your board, because Monday the 20th sees another major pulse. On Monday afternoon, we're back up to a 6.9ft SSW swell with a 16-second period and a massive 2193 energy reading. The wind is offshore from the SE. That Tuesday the 21st also holds a very solid 5.6ft to 5.2ft onshore combo. That's the second standout period of the forecast.

After that, the second week settles into a more relaxed pattern. From Wednesday the 22nd through to Sunday the 27th, the swell sits between 3.3ft and 4.6ft with period dropping to 13-15 seconds. The wind stays offshore, mostly a fresh 19 mph breeze. It's clean but unremarkable – steady, manageable surf.

Things get a little weird on Monday the 27th. We get a shift in the swell direction to SE with a very short, choppy 7 to 8-second period. There's a 5.6ft wave on Monday morning, but the wind goes cross-offshore on Monday arvo. Not the spot for that. Best to give that a miss.

Finally, the last few days – Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th – offer a final glimpse of the good stuff. A new SW groundswell comes through, but it’s small. Tuesday morning has a 2.3ft, 17-second groundswell with a gentle offshore breeze. Wednesday is similar, at 3.0ft with a very long 18-second period, and the offshore wind returns. It’s clean, but small. Worth a paddle if you’re desperate for a wave.

So, the absolute standouts are Tuesday the 14th and Monday the 20th. Big, long-period SSW groundswell, strong energy, and perfect offshore wind. That’s the gold.
