Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down the next couple of weeks.
We’ve only got one spot on the menu: Racetrack, an exposed reef and point setup that handles a good swell. It’s for advanced crew only – the power and consistency here demand it. Crowds are always a thing, so expect company. The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, nothing weird going on.
The pattern for the first week is solid but not screaming perfection. The wind stays offshore from the ESE nearly the whole run, which is a huge positive – those waves will have clean, lined-up faces. The caveat? The swell direction is SSW and the optimum here is SW, so the direction isn't a dead match. Still, there’s plenty of energy.
Kicking off Monday the 6th, we have 4ft of 17-second groundswell with moderate offshore breeze. Combined energy is strong at 1325. Conditions are clean, but it’s not massive – a decent start. Tuesday the 7th holds 5ft, 16-second swell, still clean but with a fresher breeze. By Wednesday the 8th afternoon, things step up: 7ft of 16-second SSW swell, combined energy at 2127, and clean, moderate offshore wind. That’s the standout of the first week – waves with grunt, shape, and no chop. Thursday and Friday hover around 6ft to 7ft, still offshore, but mixed with a few rain showers. The energy stays well into three-digit numbers, so it’s not backing off.
Saturday the 11th starts to drop, and by Sunday the 12th we’re down to 3ft to 3ft. Still offshore and clean, but the size is mellow.
The real highlight for the whole outlook is the second week, particularly Monday the 13th through Sunday the 19th. On Monday the 13th afternoon, we get 6ft of 19-second groundswell from SSW, combined energy at a huge 2361, with moderate offshore wind. That’s long-period, powerful swell – perfect for a reef setup like Racetrack. It won’t wall up straight like a beach break; it will wrap and unload. Excellent conditions for experienced surfers. Tuesday the 14th pushes even more energy at 2812 but the morning comes with rain and 7ft – that’s big and might be too much if you’re not dialled in. Wednesday the 15th keeps it solid in the 6ft to 6ft range, still with fresh offshore wind. Clean power.
Then we get a little reprieve Friday the 17th with lighter breezes and 4ft, very clean. But the true gold is the weekend. Saturday the 18th morning brings 5ft of 17-second SSW groundswell under a light ESE breeze – clean, excellent for experienced surfers. Then Sunday the 19th morning is the absolute cherry on top: 6ft of SW swell, 15-second period, and glassy conditions with a 3 mph SW wind. Combined energy is 1405, and the wind is dead calm. That’s as clean as it gets at this break. If you can paddle out then, it’ll be a session to remember.
After that, Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st drop back to 4ft to 5ft with clean, light winds. A nice fade-out.
No gaps without surf here – the swell never fully dies. Just keep an eye on the second week for the real magic.
Rusty.
