The Lowdown
Alright, grab a coffee and have a listen. It's a bit of a tough run ahead for Tereza. The water's sitting at a warm 86°F and that's about 4°F above the norm for this time of year, so it's much warmer than usual out there.
Looking at the forecast, the first week is pretty much a write-off. From Sunday the 16th right through to Wednesday the 19th, we're looking at poor surf conditions with tiny swell and messy cross-shore winds. The energy is weak, barely cracking 58 to 127 for the combined energy of all swells directed here. Not worth paddling out for.
The first real glimmer of hope comes on Thursday the 20th. The morning is glassy - dead calm, which is a major positive. Swell is a tiny 2ft from the SE, but the period jumps to 12 seconds, giving it some shape. The combined energy is moderate at 122. It's surfable, but very ordinary. That glassy window is the best you'll get for a clean, small wave session. The afternoon stays clean with a light cross-offshore.
Friday the 21st is similar, but the morning has a light cross-shore ripple. The afternoon cleans up again with a light cross-offshore and 2ft SE swell. Still only a 1 out of 10 on the score, so keep expectations low.
Saturday the 22nd has a glassy morning again, 1ft SE swell at 11 seconds. The energy is low at 75. It's surfable but tiny. After that, the winds turn onshore and the swell stays small and weak for the rest of the forecast. There's a pulse of energy on Monday the 24th with a 2ft SSE swell and a period of 13 seconds, giving combined energy of 310 - that's moderate energy. But it's onshore and messy, so it's a strike mission for the desperate.
The only standout here is the Thursday the 20th morning glass-off at Tereza. That's your best chance for a clean, small wave. The swell is 2ft from the SE, and with the glassy conditions, it'll be smooth. It's consistent, but not great. Just a little something to wet the line.
Otherwise, this is a quiet period. The break is fairly exposed to the SE, and the optimum swell direction is ESE. What's coming is mostly SE, so it's not the best angle. Don't expect much until the forecasts change.
