Table - best surf conditions forecast for New Jetty/South Jetty over the next 16 days.

G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ll be straight with you—this is a tough stretch for New Jetty/South Jetty. We’ve got a full 16-day window ahead, but honestly, there’s nothing worth paddling out for. That first surfless gap runs from Saturday, July 11, right through to the end of the forecast on Sunday, July 26. Not a single session cracks a decent score, and the whole run is marked as poor surf conditions. That’s sixteen days with no good options.

The swell sizes are tiny, mostly hanging around 1 ft to 3 ft, which is ankle to knee high at best. What little energy there is comes mainly from the SSW to W, but the period is all over the place—some days you’ll see a long 15-second groundswell on July 11, but with cross-onshore winds and only 2 ft on offer, it’s just not doing anything. The combined energy is weak to moderate, with values mostly between 57 and 450, but even the bigger numbers (like 450 on July 25 afternoon) come with onshore wind and that same tiny swell. That 450 reading is moderate energy, but with swell height at 3 ft and onshore wind, it’s messy and unrideable.

Winds are a killer here. Mostly onshore from the WSW or SSW, sometimes cross-onshore, and only a brief glassy period on Saturday afternoon, July 11, with 3 mph SSW. That one moment had clean conditions and 2 ft at 15 seconds (166 energy), but even then, the wave comment called it “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions”—and that’s the best we get. The rest is light to moderate onshore breezes, often described as choppy or with wind ripples. Not a single standout in sight.

For the break itself, New Jetty/South Jetty is a beginner spot, fairly exposed to the WSW swell direction. It’s fairly consistent, but when there’s no swell and onshore wind, that doesn’t matter. The water temp anomaly isn’t noted here, so it’s about average for the time of year. No crowds to worry about either—nobody’s out there.

Honestly, if you’re looking for something to do, with these tiny, wind-affected waves at a beach setup, this might be more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. But for a surf, you’re better off waiting out this blank run. It happens in this area sometimes—forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing.

Rusty.
