Table - best surf conditions forecast for New Jetty/South Jetty over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again.
Looking at the next 16 days for New Jetty/South Jetty, we’re staring at a long stretch of flat and poor conditions. There’s a big gap of nothing for the first week, and the only real blip comes late.
From July 9th through the 17th, it’s all bad news. Swell is tiny, from 1ft to 2ft, with the wind blowing cross-onshore or onshore almost every session. The water is choppy and messy, and the energy is weak (296 down to 108). This spot is for beginners, but there’s nothing for anyone to ride.
The first sign of life shows up on July 18th. The morning has a 2ft south swell at 18 seconds, with moderate energy (423), but the wind is still cross-onshore. By afternoon, the swell bumps to 3ft from the south at 17 seconds, energy jumps to 715 (strong), but again, cross-onshore wind. It’s more of a kite-surfing day than a clean surf session. The swell is from the south, not the preferred WSW direction, so the waves won’t be lined up.
The only day that stands out is the morning of July 19th. We get a 4ft south swell at 14 seconds, energy at 538 (strong), and the wind is light onshore. It’s still not glassy, but it’s the biggest swell of the whole run. The water temp is about average for this time of year.
After that, it fades back to 2ft to 2ft swells through the 24th, with onshore or cross-onshore winds and weak to moderate energy. July 24th morning shows a 3ft south swell at 14 seconds with 444 energy (moderate), but it’s onshore and marginal.
Honestly, this is a grim stretch. The only window that might give you a wave is the 19th of July, but with the wind and swell direction working against the break, expect a tough session. I’d keep an eye on the forecast, but don’t hold your breath.
Rusty.
