Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into what’s happening at Silver Strand.
I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – this one’s a bummer. The start of the outlook is a wasteland. We’re talking days and days with no surf to speak of. The swell is barely a bump, the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, and the wave energy is pathetic. You’ll be sitting on the beach watching the ripples for a solid two weeks.
That stretch of flatness runs all the way through to the middle of July. The combined swell energy barely cracks triple digits, and when it does, it’s coupled with poor wind. There’s a moment on the morning of Monday the 16th of July where the wind goes glassy – a light breeze from the southwest, the water goes like a mirror – but the swell is only 1ft from the southwest with an energy of just 67. It’s a tease, not a session.
The only window that’s worth mentioning comes on the morning of Sunday the 19th of July. A light cross-offshore breeze from the SSE cleans things up, and we get 1ft of southwest swell with a 16-second period. The energy ticks up to 103, which is still weak, but the comment says it’s surfable. After weeks of nothing, that’s your best shot.
This is a sandbar break that needs a proper kick to get interesting, and we just don’t have it right now. It’s a normal quiet spell for the area, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating.
Keep that Sunday morning in mind if you’re desperate, but don’t expect much.
Rusty.
