Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk surf.
First up, this is a tough stretch for Silver Strand. We're looking at a solid run of poor surf conditions with hardly anything to get excited about. The first day with any sort of swell that's worth considering doesn't roll around until Wednesday, July 8th, and even then it's marginal. It's going to be a quiet couple of weeks.
The standout period, if you can call it that, is around Wednesday and Thursday, July 8th and 9th. The combined energy of all swells directed here is starting to build, hitting a moderate 289 on Wednesday morning and 292 on Thursday morning. We're seeing a small, long-period groundswell from the SSW with a period of 16 seconds, which gives the waves a bit of shape and energy, but they'll be small – around 2ft. The problem is the wind. It's onshore from the west, so those small waves are going to get chopped up, keeping the surf quality poor. It’s a frustrating tease.
After that, the energy drops back down. By the time we get to July 15th, the combined energy plummets to a weak 53 and waves are tiny. The second week of the outlook is pretty much a write-off. There's a small uptick in energy on July 18th, but again with onshore winds and a weak 224 combined energy, it's nothing special.
Honestly, for the entire 16-day window, there's no true standout. The best bet is to keep an eye on the early mornings of July 8th and 9th when the wind is lightest. But with consistent onshore flow and small, weak swell, this stretch looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
Stay patient.
