Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fall Bay Reef over the next 16 days.
Hey folks, Rusty here. I'm looking at the crystal ball for the next couple of weeks, and I've got to be honest – it's a rough one for Fall Bay Reef. This is a reef break that's already known for being inconsistent, and this forecast is just a 16-day-long stretch of flat and ugly. There is not a single session I'd call good; the best we get all period is a combined swell energy of 83 which is weak on the morning of July 14th. You're looking at a 16-day drought for any kind of surf.
Let me walk you through it. The first week is full of tiny, weak waves. Wednesday and Thursday of this week, we've got knee-high slop from the west, with periods of 8-10 seconds. Even with a glassy morning on Thursday, that 0.3m isn't enough to push you. Friday the 10th of July afternoon is the closest we get to something rideable, with a 0.6m west swell and a light offshore breeze out of the NNW giving clean lines, but the energy is still only 56, so it's gutless. The weekend turns into a full east windswell pattern, but these are tiny 1-2 foot waves with periods of 4-5 seconds, just wind-slapped junk. On Monday the 13th of July afternoon, we get a weird little spike of a 0.1m, 19-second groundswell from the SW, but that period is massive and the height is nothing, so it's a tease. Through the second week, we see occasional offshore winds (especially on the 16th and 18th of July), but the swell stays tiny – between 0.3 and 1.0m – and the period is still short. The energy drops to single digits, bottoming out at 4 on the 22nd of July. For the windsurfers and kiters, those stronger east winds might look interesting, but for a surfer, the setup is just not there. This is a normal dry spell for an inconsistent spot like this, so you just have to wait it out. I'm Rusty, and I'll catch you on the next pulse.
