Table - best surf conditions forecast for Putsborough over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a good hard look at what Putsborough's got cookin' over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, it's a tough one. The next seven days are pretty much a write-off for a proper surf. We're looking at tiny, weak waves with combined swell energy barely getting out of double digits (like 36-57 range), and when there is a bit of height on the weekend of the 11th, the wind is a mess – cross-off or cross-on all day, keeping things bumpy and uninviting. For a beginner-friendly spot like this, you’d be fighting more chop than wave. The water temp is sitting at 63°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s the only thing mild about it.
We actually go through an almost surreal period of dead-flat conditions from the 12th through to the morning of the 18th. Serious lull, with swell energy dropping to single and low double digits. It’s about as poor as it gets for a full week.
Now, it gets a bit interesting on the morning of Monday, July 20th. Finally, a glimmer. The swell bumps up to 4ft from the WNW with a modest 8-second period and combined energy hitting 197 – that's moderate, and the most we've seen. The wind is light from the east, giving us some clean conditions. It’s still nothing epic, the guidance says "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions," and that's spot on. For a beginner-friendly break, this is the best of a bad bunch, but it’s really only small and weak. If you absolutely need to get wet, that Monday morning window is your only real opportunity, but the swell will be small and uninspired.
After that brief tease, it's right back into tiny, onshore slop for the rest of the run. A classic summer flat spell. The long-range pattern just isn't delivering any punch.
Rusty.
