Table - best surf conditions forecast for Whitley Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s see what we’ve got here for Whitley Bay. Honestly, it’s a pretty quiet stretch ahead. For the next 16 days, the surf is tiny and the conditions are mostly messy. There are no standout days, so don’t get your hopes up for anything epic.
The first sniff of any real swell doesn’t even show up until Monday the 13th of July, and even then it’s nothing to write home about. From now until then, we’re looking at a long gap of poor surf with heights barely above 1 ft and weak energy. The water temp is around 57°, which is bang average for this time of year up here.
On Monday the 13th of July morning, a small bump arrives – 4 ft from the NE, with a period of 8 seconds. That combined energy hits a moderate 164, so there’s some push, but the wind is cross-onshore from the NNE at 12 mph, chewing it up. The afternoon is onshore, so forget clean waves. This isn’t for beginners at that size; it’ll be choppy and pretty average.
Tuesday the 14th of July drops back to 3 ft, still cross-onshore. The energy is down to 86. Not worth paddling out for. The rest of the week stays small, with winds mostly cross-onshore or onshore, and heights under 2 ft. The odd glassy moment shows up on Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 22nd of July, but there’s simply no swell to work with – energy is below 20, and on the 22nd morning, there’s literally zero swell.
There is one tiny bright spot: Thursday the 23rd of July shows 2 ft from the east, with offshore wind from the SSW. On the morning it’s light, and in the afternoon a moderate 12 mph offshore. It’s clean, but the swell is too small and weak (energy around 21-23) to offer anything fun. Good for a beginner to bob around on a foamie, maybe.
Overall, Whitley Bay is pretty much flat for the whole 16-day window with no proper windows of good surf. If you’re a kiter, some of those cross-onshore days with a bit of wind might be more interesting, but for surfing it’s a no-go. Forecasts can change, but right now, leave the boards at home.
