The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a grim stretch for a paddle. The whole 16-day window is pretty much a write-off. We’ve got a solid week and a half of tiny, weak swell that just isn't going to deliver anything worth getting wet for. The period kicks off with a bit of a bump, but it’s all messy, short-period windswell with the wind all over the shop. After that, it just flatlines. There are no standout days, no hidden gems, just a long, flat run.
The first few days of the period are the only time you'll see any height, but it's poor quality. Monday the 13th has a 3.9ft swell from the NE, but it’s short-period (7 seconds) and a moderate onshore breeze has it looking like a washing machine. The combined energy is weak (139). The water is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year at 60.6°, but that’s little comfort. The onshore winds just ruin it all week. By Wednesday the 15th, the swell drops to a tiny 1.6ft.
We get a slight pulse on Saturday the 18th with a 4.9ft to 5.2ft NNE swell, and the energy climbs to a moderate 263 by the afternoon. But again, the wind is cross-onshore or onshore, keeping it choppy and uninviting. This isn't a surf spot; it's a kite surfer's dream. With the wind up and the waves messy, you’d be better off with a kite than a paddle.
By Sunday the 21st, the swell is gone, down to 0.7ft and 1.0ft. The wind goes glassy on the afternoon of the 21st, but there’s nothing to ride. The rest of the forecast is a flat, stagnant pond of 0.3ft to 1.3ft swell with no energy. Even when the wind turns offshore on the 25th, 26th, and 27th, the swell is so small you’d be scratching for a ripple. For this area, a blank run like this is more normal than not.
So, truth be told, leave the boards in the car. There’s nothing worth chasing.
