The Lowdown
Alright crew, Rusty here. Let's chew the fat on what Godrevy's serving up over the next couple of weeks.
It’s a bit of a slow burn to start. We're looking at a pretty long dry spell of flat, messy conditions through the end of August and into the first week of September. The swell is tiny, the wind is all over the shop, and honestly, it’s a waste of wax. That's a solid gap of nearly two weeks where there’s just nothing worth paddling out for.
The light at the end of the tunnel is Thursday the 4th of September. That’s the real standout. Friday morning (4th September) is glassy with a light breeze from the SSE, and the water is a mirror. Expect good surf. The swell comes in from the WNW at about 4ft, with a combined energy of 497 (moderate). It’s not big, but it’s clean and has a bit of shape. Friday afternoon is even better, with the swell holding at 5ft from the WNW but the period stretching out to 12 seconds, giving it some real grunt. The glassy conditions stick, and the combined energy jumps to 560. For a beachbreak, a period that long can make it a bit straight, but with no wind, it should be a blast.
Saturday the 5th of September kicks up a fresh offshore SSE wind at 18 mph, cleaning up a 3ft WNW swell, but you’ll be fighting the breeze to get out. The energy is still okay at 223, but by the afternoon that wind cranks up to 25 mph, making it a tough paddle for a mushy wave. Sunday the 6th of September then turns back onshore and choppy.
So, put a pin in the 4th of September. That’s your window. Water temp is right around 64°, which is normal for this time of year. For the rest of it, you might as well stay on the beach.
Rusty out.
