The Lowdown
Alright, I’m Rusty, and here’s the outlook for Godrevy in imperial.
We’re starting off quiet. Sunday the 23rd has rideable waves but they’re small – about 1ft from the southwest with a 14-second period. Energy is weak (81 combined). Wind is light and cross-off, so it’s clean but not exciting. Water temp is normal for this time of year.
Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th are poor. Tiny swell and fresh winds spoil things. Wednesday the 26th morning shows a 2ft west swell with offshore wind, but the period is short at 8 seconds, so it’s weak.
Thursday the 27th sees a bump to 6ft in the morning and 6ft in the afternoon from the SSW. Short period again (8 seconds). Energy jumps (383 and 660), but conditions are described as poor with cross-off wind.
Friday the 28th morning is 5ft from the southwest, 9-second period, light onshore wind. It’s okay but not special.
The weekend (29th-30th) is messy – strong cross-onshore winds, lumpy, choppy. Surf drops from 8ft to 5ft by Sunday afternoon but still poor.
Monday the 31st is a beauty. Morning has 3ft from the WSW, light offshore breeze. Afternoon? Glassy. North-northeast wind at just 3 mph, 2ft from the west, period 8 seconds. Clean, small, perfect for beginners. That’s a standout.
Tuesday the 1st of September and Wednesday the 2nd are poor again – small and choppy.
Then Thursday the 3rd of September morning is the real winner. 5ft from the west, 7-second period, combined energy of 319, and light cross-off wind from the south. The call is “expect good surf conditions.” That’s the best of the whole forecast. Good size for intermediates, clean.
Friday the 4th is similar size (5ft, west, 9-second period) but the wind freshens in the afternoon. Morning could still be fun.
The weekend of the 5th-6th of September gets big. Saturday is cross-shore and messy. Sunday the 6th morning has 8ft from the WSW – expert only. The afternoon is also 8ft from the west, with moderate cross-off wind and huge energy (1119). Powerful but less certain this far out.
Monday the 7th of September is blown out with near gale winds. Skip it.
Best bets: Monday the 31st of August for glassy, small surf, and Thursday the 3rd of September morning for the best all-round session.
Rusty.
