Table - best surf conditions forecast for Godrevy over the next 16 days.
Alright mates, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at Godrevy. Straight up, it’s a tough forecast. We’ve got a long stretch of small, messy surf ahead, so don’t get your hopes up for the next week or so.
The first decent window doesn’t open until the morning of Monday, July 21st. Before that, from now until the 19th, it’s mostly flat or near-flat, with weak, short-period swell and lousy winds. The water temp is about 62°, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year, so it’s not bad for a paddle, but the waves are just not there.
The real standout is Monday, July 21st, and Tuesday, July 22nd. On the morning of the 21st, we get a 5ft WNW swell with a 9-second period, and the combined energy hits 526 (moderate wave energy). The wind is light and cross-off from the east, so it’ll be clean. That’s your best shot. The afternoon of the 21st stays clean with a 4ft swell, and Tuesday morning the 22nd drops to 3ft from the WNW, still clean and rideable.
After that, the wind switches up and the conditions get choppy or cross-shore. A bump on Sunday, July 26th, shows a 6ft WNW swell, but it’s a short period of 7 seconds with rain and cross-shore winds, so it’s rough around the edges.
For a beginner-friendly spot, the 4-5ft waves on the 21st are a good size – not too big, and with the light offshore wind, it’ll be glassy. Godrevy can get busy, so get there early on the Monday morning.
So, in short: the next week is a dud. The best bet is Monday, July 21st, and Tuesday, July 22nd. That’s the one to aim for.
Rusty.
