Table - best surf conditions forecast for Godrevy over the next 16 days.
Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Godrevy over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a pretty bleak start. We’re looking at a stretch of several days where there’s just nothing worth getting wet for. From the Friday morning right through to the middle of the following week, it’s all small, weak, and mostly blown out. You’ll see a few tiny waves, but the wind is all over the place – mostly cross-off or cross-on – and the energy is pathetic, barely registering in the low double-digit numbers (33 to 135). It’s the kind of period where you’re better off checking the swell forecast again tomorrow.
The first real glimmer of hope doesn’t show up until Wednesday the 22nd in the morning. We get a bit of a pulse, with a 6ft swell rolling in from the west, but here’s the catch – it’s got a short period of 7 seconds, so it’s going to be a bit weak and lumpy. The wind is offshore from the ESE at 16 mph though, so it will be clean at least. The energy is moderate (334). This is really only for the experienced crew, as that size will be too much for beginners. It's promising, but not a standout.
Then, on Thursday the 23rd, the morning looks the best of the whole run. We’ve got a 4ft west swell with a 9-second period, and the wind is offshore from the SSE at 16 mph, meaning clean conditions. The energy is solidly moderate (301). This is the one to pencil in. It’s still a bit on the bigger side, so it’s more for the intermediate to advanced surfer.
After that, into the last few days of the forecast, it all starts to fall apart again. The wind swings onshore and the swell stays small and messy. By Saturday the 25th, we get some size back – 6ft from the west – but the wind is a strong cross-shore from the SW at 16-19 mph, making a mess of things. The energy is strong (415-446), but with that wind, it’s going to be choppy and lumpy. Honestly, that setup looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
Water temp is sitting at about 62°F, which is pretty normal for this time of year.
All in all, if you’re keen, the Thursday morning (23rd) is your best bet. It’s the one session that has a chance of being decent.
