Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Right then, let's have a proper look at what's coming our way.
To be straight with you, the next couple of weeks isn't shaping up to be a classic. We've got a real stretch of nothing much happening for a good while. The first sniff of anything you'd call surfable doesn't show until that Sunday the 12th of July, and even then it's just a glimpse. From now, right through to that Sunday afternoon, it's flat or messy. That's a solid gap of quiet days.
So, let's start there. On Sunday the 12th of July afternoon, Godrevy will see a small 5ft swell from the north, with a short, weak period of 7 seconds. The combined energy is only 252 (moderate). The wind will be light and cross-shore, which is the only reason it gets a mention, but the forecast calls it marginal and the conditions are lumpy. Not a standout, just the first sign of life.
Moving into the following week, there's a glimmer on Tuesday the 14th of July. On the Tuesday afternoon, we get glassy conditions at Godrevy with a 2ft swell from the west, a 10-second period, and a combined energy of 157 (moderate). The wind is a light 3 mph from the north, dead glassy. This is the best on offer for the whole outlook. It's small, but clean. For a beginner, this would be a lovely little session with no crowds mentioned as a problem. The water temp is around 61°, which is about normal for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
Then Wednesday the 15th of July morning offers a bit of reprieve too, with a gentle offshore wind from the southeast at 9 mph and a clean 2ft west swell, period 9 seconds, energy 133 (moderate). It's surfable but ordinary, as the file says.
After that, things get a bit wild but not good. By the 19th of July, a bigger but rubbish swell shows up. Sunday the 19th of July afternoon sees a 8ft west-southwest swell with a short, weak period of 8 seconds and a combined energy of 696 (strong). But the wind is a moderate cross-shore and it'll be choppy with rain showers. Not for the faint-hearted, but the size is there for experts if they're desperate.
And then Monday the 20th of July? That's a massive, powerful swell from the north-west, with 8ft waves, a 10-second period, and a combined energy of 2106 (very strong). But the wind is howling onshore from the north-west at 25 mph. That's a washing machine. Only for the hardcore, and honestly, with that onshore wind, it might be more interesting for kite surfers than paddle surfers.
Overall, the standout is that glassy Tuesday afternoon on the 14th of July. Small, clean, and quiet. For everything else, you're either waiting or dealing with wind. Stay patient.
Rusty.
