Table - best surf conditions forecast for Godrevy over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cooking for Godrevy.
Honestly, mate, it's a bit of a tough stretch ahead. The water is sitting at a comfortable 62°, which is about average for this time of year, but we're going to have to wait for the surf to match that. The first week and a half is a write-off, with hardly any energy and messy winds. We're looking at a big gap from now until the 21st of July with nothing worth getting out of bed for. The swell is tiny, periods are all over the place, and that easterly wind just won't let up.
Things finally start to look a little more interesting around Tuesday the 22nd of July. Wednesday the 22nd is the one to circle. Early morning, we've got a clean 3.9ft swell rolling in from the west-northwest with a decent 9-second period, pushing moderate wave energy (264). But the real standout is the wind. A light offshore from the southeast, glassy conditions. That's a major positive for Godrevy, it should clean that swell right up. The crowd factor is listed as "often" here, so expect company, but for the first decent window in a fortnight, it could be worth sharing the peak.
Later on Wednesday the 22nd, the wind swings onshore and it gets messy again. That one morning is your window.
The following weekend, Saturday the 25th of July, we start to see some real size. Swell is pushing 5.9ft from the west with strong energy (511), but it's coming straight onshore. That much power with an onshore wind is going to be a lumpy, blown-out mess, only for the most experienced or for the kites. Not a paddle surfer's friend.
So, keep your eyes on the 22nd of July. It's not perfect, but it's the best we've got. Get out there early.
