Table - best surf conditions forecast for Godrevy over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s happening at Godrevy.
Honestly, the next 16 days look pretty flat and ugly. There’s a long gap right from the start with no real surf to speak of. The first tiny chance doesn’t roll around until Wednesday the 15th, and it’s barely a ripple.
Starting Saturday the 11th, the ocean looks clean, but the swell is tiny at 2 ft from the west, and the cross-off wind is messing it up. Wave energy is weak (104). That’s the story for Sunday and Monday, too – small swell, 2 to 3 ft, but the wind is fresh from the east, creating chop. By Tuesday the 14th, it’s the same: weak swell and a moderate breeze.
The only real hope is Wednesday morning, the 15th. We get a light offshore wind from the southeast, which is a big deal for clean conditions. The swell is only 1 ft from the west, with a 9-second period, and the energy is weak (73). It’s surfable, but it’s very ordinary. The water temp is about what you’d expect for the season. That’s the best you’ll get.
The afternoon of the 15th goes onshore, so it’s a short window. Thursday the 16th has a small clean-up in the afternoon with a 2 ft southwest swell, but it’s nothing special. The rest of the first week is a write-off – Friday, Saturday, Sunday – all onshore winds, mostly from the north-northwest, with tiny swell.
The second week, from the 20th of July through the 26th, is even worse. The wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore, with fresh breezes. The biggest energy comes on the 21st and 22nd, hitting 157 and 158, but it’s all short-period wind-swell with a 6-second period, and the wind is lumpy. This is more of a kite-surfing setup than a paddle-surfing one.
There are no standouts. The only thing worth a mention is that Wednesday morning, the 15th, with the light offshore wind. If you’re desperate, you might get a few ankle-biters. The forecast is solid for the near term, so it’s a rare blank period for this area.
Stay patient.
Rusty.
