Table - best surf conditions forecast for Godrevy over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s call it how it is – Godrevy’s looking pretty grim for the next couple of weeks. There’s a long, flat spell ahead, and I can’t point to one day that’s really worth getting excited about. The wave energy is mostly weak to moderate, and the conditions just aren’t lining up for any proper surf.
We start on Thursday morning, July 9th. There’s a small 3ft swell from the WNW with a 10-second period, giving us a combined energy of 125 (moderate). But the wind is a light cross-shore from the NE at 6 mph, and it’s called “poor surf conditions.” Not a great start. That carries on through the day and into Friday the 10th. Friday morning cleans up a little with a cross-offshore breeze from the ENE at 6 mph and a 3ft swell from the west, but the period is short at 9 seconds, and energy drops to 136. It’s “surfable but very ordinary.” That’s the high point, and it’s not high at all.
Saturday the 11th sees the swell drop to 2ft, and even with cross-offshore wind, the energy is weak at 88. No power. Sunday the 12th brings a weird 3ft swell from the north with a period of only 6 seconds, energy at 67 – weak and lumpy. Wind picks up to 16 mph from the ENE, cross-offshore, but the short period kills it.
From Monday the 13th all the way through to Friday the 24th of July, it’s basically flat. Swell heights drop to 0.7ft to 2ft, periods are all over the place but mostly short, and combined energy stays under 100 – often in the 30s, 40s, or 50s. Winds are mostly moderate to fresh from the north or east, making things cross-onshore or lumpy. A few mornings have clean cross-offshore wind, but with barely any swell, it’s just flat and glassy. No waves to speak of.
Godrevy is a beginner-friendly spot and usually fairly consistent, which makes this long stretch of nothing even tougher. The water temperature is about 61°F, which is normal for this time of year. The water’s fine – it’s just the surf that’s missing. If you really need to get wet, Friday the 10th morning is your best (and only) bet, with a tiny, clean wave. Otherwise, hang it up for now and hope the forecast turns around. It won’t stay this poor forever.
Rusty.
