Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Gonna be a tough one, I’m not gonna lie. The forecast is a long stretch of flat, weak, and messy. There’s a real gap of nothing worthwhile here. For the first several days, through Tuesday the 8th, it’s just poor surf with tiny swell and onshore breezes. Don’t even bother looking at it. That gap stretches all the way from the start of the period until we finally get a sniff of something surfable around Friday the 10th.
Even then, it’s not much to write home about. So, the only real standout in this whole 16-day window, and I’m saying this with a heavy heart, is a brief moment at Godrevy. On Friday morning, the 10th of July, we get a tiny pulse of swell from the W at 3 ft, with a period of 9 seconds. The combined energy is a weak 139. The wind is a light cross-offshore from the ENE, so the conditions will be clean. It’s really just “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions.” Not exactly firing, but it’s the best we’ve got.
The water temp is sitting at 60°, which is about average for the time of year, nothing weird there.
After that brief window, it’s back to the doldrums. The rest of the period is a long, sad run of tiny, weak swell and poor conditions. The only shift is a long-period swell of 19 seconds coming through on Monday the 13th, but it’s only 0.7 ft from the SSW. That’s a lot of energy for zero wave. The wind cranks up to a near gale on the 13th, so the ocean will be a mess. For a beach break like Godrevy, that long-period stuff won’t help anyway.
Honestly, it’s pretty grim. For the area, a blank run like this happens, but it never stays poor forever. Forecasts can change, so keep an eye on it. For now, I’d be looking at a different hobby for a couple of weeks.
Rusty.
