Alright, Rusty here again, in feet and Fahrenheit this time. The long and short: it’s flat and it’s staying flat for a good while at White Rocks. There’s a gap of several days with nothing worth chasing, but a few windows may keep you hanging on.
The 16-day stretch is a pretty quiet one for White Rocks, a fairly consistent break that’s exposed to the NW. Water temp is sitting around 56°, right where it should be for the season. Nothing weird there. But from Saturday, July 4th through Tuesday, July 8th, it’s mostly "poor surf conditions." Small, weak swell with moderate cross-off or side winds. Combined wave energy is mostly in the low hundreds or under – just not enough juice. Don’t get your hopes up.
Your best bet in the near future is Wednesday, July 8th, morning. Glassy. Windless from the south. Swell is 3ft from the WNW with a 9-second interval. It’s small, but clean as can be. Combined energy is at 103 – moderate. Crowds can be a thing here, but on a day this tiny, you might have it mostly to yourself. Perfect for a longboard or a soft top, no question.
After that, Thursday the 9th through to Saturday, July 19th is basically a flat spell. Most days have combined wave energy under 50, sometimes under 30 – real weak stuff. Swell from the WNW but mostly under 2ft, with cross-on or straight onshore winds. Even the rare glassy patches can’t make waves out of nothing.
There’s a last little flicker on Saturday morning, July 18th: 2ft of WNW swell, with a light cross-off from the southwest. Clean but small – combined energy just 56. You might get a knee-high slide if you’re patient.
Bottom line? Wednesday morning, July 8th – that’s the standout. Light winds, clean conditions, small but surfable. Everything else is either too small, too choppy, or both. A long quiet stretch ahead.
Rusty.
