Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at what's on the table at White Rocks over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, the start of this outlook is a quiet one. We’ve got a proper flat spell on the way. From Monday the 6th right through until late in the window, there's basically nothing doing. The conditions are poor, the swell is tiny, and I wouldn't bother strapping a board on the roof. It’s a long stretch of no-go, which is a real bummer for around here.
Now, we finally get a flicker of hope on Monday the 20th, with a bit of a pulse showing up. White Rocks looks like it might wake up for the morning session. We're looking at a 5ft swell rolling in from the WNW with a moderate combined energy level (402). The wind is light from the NW, but it's a cross-on breeze, so it'll be a bit bumpy. The swell period is around 9 seconds, so a bit of a wind swell mix, not super clean. It's a marginal call and the surf forecast is questionable, so don't get your hopes too high.
The afternoon on the 20th sees that swell build to 7ft from the WNW with a much stronger combined energy (826). The period edges up to 10 seconds. But again, that cross-on wind from the NW is a problem, making it choppy. That size is getting into the too-big-for-beginners zone, and with the bump, it's really only for the experienced crew looking for a challenge.
Then Tuesday the 21st keeps a similar 6ft swell from the WNW, but the wind picks up to a moderate breeze from the NW, making for a choppy, cross-on mess. The energy is still solid (599-624), but the quality is poor. The entire stretch from the 21st onward is nothing but poor surf conditions.
So, the long and short of it is: we have one sniff of a window, Monday the 20th, and even then, it's a marginal, bumpy mess. The rest is a write-off. A blank run like this is pretty normal for the area, so don't stress. Forecasts can change.
Rusty.
