Imperial Version
Alright crew, Rusty here with the skinny on White Rocks. Gotta level with you – this 16-day outlook is a bit of a bummer. There’s a big ol’ gap of flatness that stretches through the first week and beyond.
The only real window is on Wednesday morning, July 8th. Tuesday afternoon the 7th is a write-off with a sloppy 1.0m WNW swell and choppy cross-onshore wind. Don’t bother.
But Wednesday morning the 8th gets a brief pass. It’s glassy calm with a light east wind and a tiny 0.7m swell from the WNW at 9 seconds. The combined wave energy is a measly (78). You could sneak out on a longboard for some soft, weak little waves. It’s beginner-friendly. Water temp is around 56°, which is dead average for this time of year.
After that, it’s like someone turned off the tap. The rest of Wednesday and Thursday drops to 0.5m or less – pathetic. Friday the 10th sees a slight lift to 0.7m with an 11-second period, but it’s onshore and still no good. The second week into mid-July is flat, with swell barely reaching 1 ft and energy in the tank.
Around Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th, there’s a little bump from the NNW, but it’s getting blown to bits by 19-22 mph winds from the NW and WNW – cross-onshore and lumpy. That’s more kite-surfing weather. By Wednesday the 22nd of July, the wind hits 28 mph from the WNW with a 1.0m swell showing energy of (220), but it’s a complete mess.
So, the only half-decent moment is that glassy Wednesday morning the 8th. Otherwise, this is a classic flat spell for the area. Not much to do but wait.
Rusty.
