Table - best surf conditions forecast for Croyde over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab a coffee, and let’s look at what’s ahead for Croyde. I’m not gonna lie to you, it’s a tough stretch for the next two weeks. We’ve got a real dry spell before anything worth a paddle shows up.
Right now, through the end of the week and well into the middle of next week, it’s mostly flat and ordinary. The water is sitting at about 63° and feels a touch warmer than usual for July, but that’s about the only highlight. The swell is tiny, mostly around 0.3ft to 2ft, with weak energy levels (37 to 86). The wind is often offshore or cross-offshore, which keeps things clean, but there’s just nothing to push into. It’s a bit of a heartbreaker, honestly.
The first modest chance of a wave comes around Sunday, July 20th. Monday morning, July 20th, we see a small uptick – a 3ft W swell at 8 seconds with a gentle offshore wind from the ENE. The combined energy just crawls into the moderate zone at 114. It’s surfable, but it’s not going to blow your mind. Ordinary conditions is the polite way to put it.
That little window is the standout of the whole 16-day run, but it’s only a 1 out of 10 sort of day. The swell is small and the period is short, so the waves will be a bit weak and fat. If you are desperate for a paddle, you could make it work, but don’t expect any barrels.
After that Monday blip, it drops back down into smaller, poorer surf for the rest of the run. The end of July and the first few days of August (the 21st through the 23rd) look messy – onshore winds and choppy seas. Definitely not worth bringing the good board.
It’s a classic case of a gap in the goods. For a spot that’s usually very consistent, this is a quiet run. Don’t lose hope though – forecasts can always change, and sometimes it doesn't stay poor for long. But for now, the best advice I can give is to save the wax and go for a walk on the beach.
