Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks.
To be straight with you, this is a flat spell for Croyde. We're looking at a solid 16-day run with no real surf to speak of. The first window is a total write-off, with tiny 2ft swell from the west and a lot of onshore wind. There's just no energy out there, with the combined swell energy sitting at a weak 52 (kW/ft) at best. You'd be wasting your time.
We do see a tiny blip of hope around Friday the 10th. The morning shows a 2ft west swell with a period of 9 seconds and a gentle offshore wind from the ENE. That'll be clean, but the waves are just too small to get excited about. The energy is still weak at 56. The afternoon cleans up more, but the wave height is the same. After that, it's back to tiny, blown-out dribble.
The rest of the forecast is a graveyard of poor surf conditions. Even when the wind goes offshore, like on the 12th and 13th, the swell is a pathetic 0.3ft. The period jumps up to 19 seconds, but a groundswell that size with no height is just a ripple. The wind is also strong, making it a miserable paddle for nothing.
Basically, don't bother waxing your board. There is nothing rideable here. For this area, a blank run like this is normal when the swell windows just don't line up. You're better off checking the forecasts again in a few days, as things can change.
Rusty.
