Table - best surf conditions forecast for Croyde over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again, switching to feet and miles for you. Let’s call it like it is: the next couple of weeks are dead quiet for Croyde. We’re looking at a long flat spell, so don’t get your hopes up for a proper ride.
Starting from July 13th, we’ve got nearly two weeks of poor surf. The swell is tiny, barely 0.3ft to 1ft. Even though we get some good offshore breezes, especially on the mornings of the 15th and 17th of July, there’s just no energy in the water. The combined swell energy is weak, sitting around 14 to 30, which is barely a ripple. You’d be better off on a longboard or just enjoying the calm.
Water temp is about normal for this time of year. Crowds at Croyde? Usually packed when it’s good, but with these conditions, you’ll have the place mostly to yourself.
There is one brief highlight. On the 17th of July, Friday morning, we get a glassy 1ft swell from the SW with a period of 7 seconds. The wind goes dead calm. It’s clean, but the wave is just too small to really ride. It’s a cruel tease.
Then, finally, we see something with a pulse. By the 26th of July, Sunday afternoon, the swell starts building, with the combined energy hitting 104. Still messy with onshore wind, but the direction is shifting. The real news comes on the 27th of July, Monday morning, with a 7ft swell from the W. That’s a solid size, but the wind is hammering from the SW at 25 mph, making it strong cross-onshore and messy. The energy jumps to 496, which is moderate, but the conditions are blown out. It’s big and powerful with an 8-second period, but it’s not clean. This carries into the 28th of July, Tuesday, with the swell at 6ft and even more energy at 753, but still onshore.
If you’re an expert and don’t mind a fight, the 27th and 28th of July might be worth a look, but the wind is ruining it. Honestly, this looks more like a kiteboarding session than a surf session. For the rest of us, it’s a waiting game. Stay optimistic – these flat spells never last forever.
Rusty.
