Table - best surf conditions forecast for Croyde over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Croyde’s got cookin’ over the next couple of weeks.

Honestly, the first ten days are a bit of a write-off. We’re looking at a proper flat spell from Sunday the 12th right through to Tuesday the 22nd. The swell is barely a ripple, with most of it sitting around 0.3 ft to 2 ft, and the energy is just pathetic – we’re talking combined swell energy values of 15 to 78 for most of that stretch. That’s weak, my friends. There’s a bit of glassy conditions on the morning of Thursday the 16th with an easterly breeze, but with only 1.0 ft of swell on a short 8‑second period, it’s just not enough to get excited about. The wind does swing offshore a few times, like Monday morning the 13th with a strong 25 mph easterly, but that’s just too raw to paddle into and the swell is a joke. A few days like Tuesday the 14th have a clean, offshore feel, but the 0.3 ft to 1.0 ft swell just won’t push you.

The good news is we start to see a pulse of energy arrive around Wednesday the 22nd. The swell picks up to 3 ft, but it’s coming from the west with a short, weak period of 6 seconds, and the wind is onshore or cross-onshore, so it’s going to be choppy and messy. The combined energy climbs to 78, which is still weak-to-moderate at best. Not worth paddling out for.

The real standout, the only one worth circling on your calendar, is Monday the 27th of July. This is a bit of a beast, but it’s for experts only. The morning session sees a solid 10 ft swell from the west-southwest with a 10-second period, and the combined energy is a massive 1642. That’s serious power. The wind is a light cross-onshore from the west-northwest, which is workable. But the word is that this swell is predicted to be too big for Croyde. That’s big, shifty, and dangerous. The afternoon drops to 8 ft from the same direction, but the wind picks up, and the forecast is marginal. If you’re a seasoned local and know the bank, the morning might be on, but it’s a high-risk, heavy-water session. Definitely not one for beginners.

So, to sum it up: a long, flat run until the last week, then a heavy, expert-only blast on the 27th. It’s a waiting game.

Stay salty,
Rusty
