Table - best surf conditions forecast for Mother Ivey s Spot M over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Mother Ivey’s Spot M has got cookin’. I gotta be straight with you – this stretch of the next couple of weeks is lookin’ lean. Real lean. We’ve got a solid 16-day window ahead, but there’s a big dry spell right at the start with no real surf to speak of for the first few days. The swell that’s around on Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th is barely a pulse, with a combined energy reading of only 90 to 126 – that’s weak, negligible stuff. Add in cross-shore and cross-onshore winds and you’re looking at blown-out, bumpy conditions. Not worth paddling out for.
We don’t really see anything rideable until Friday morning, July 10th. Even then, it’s marginal. We’ve got a 3 ft swell from the west, period around 9 seconds, and combined energy hitting 130 – still on the weaker side of moderate. The trouble is, the wind is onshore from the northeast at only 3 mph, but it’s straight onshore, so the surface will be lumpy. Not a day for high hopes. Friday afternoon is even worse with a cross-onshore breeze picking up.
Through the rest of that first week and into the second, the story doesn’t improve. Saturday the 11th drops right off to a tiny 1 ft from the WNW, and by Sunday the 12th we’ve got onshore winds gusting to 16 mph from the ENE with a junk 3 ft, short period windswell. The energy readings are tanking – we’re talking values in the 50s and 70s. It’s basically flat and choppy.
The whole second week, from Monday July 14th through to Wednesday July 23rd, is a write-off for decent waves. Swell heights are stuck between 0.3 ft and 3 ft, periods are all over the place but mostly short, and the wind is almost always cross-onshore, onshore, or just plain strong. On Tuesday the 15th, we’ve got 28 mph winds from the ESE – that’s strong breeze territory. The break is sheltered and exposed to the west, so the only thing you’re gonna find is messy, lumpy, blown-out slop. There’s a few pockets of clean conditions later on, like Sunday morning July 20th with a light offshore from the WSW, but the swell is still only 1 ft – a knee-high dribble at best. Combined energy is just 34. That’s not surf, that’s a lake ripple.
Look, there’s no standout window here. No big groundswell lining up, no glassy mornings with a solid pulse. This is one of those stretches where the forecast is what it is – and it’s telling you to wax the longboard for a flat session or just stay home and wait for the next system. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no dramas there, but the waves are painfully absent.
Hang in there. It won’t stay poor forever – forecasts change.
