Table - best surf conditions forecast for Mother Ivey s Spot M over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it. The forecast for Mother Ivey’s Spot M is a bit of a tough one. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with barely a ripple to get excited about, so don’t be in a rush to grab your board.
We start off on Wednesday, the 8th of July. The water is sitting at 62°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – a nice little bonus. We’ve got a small, clean 3ft swell rolling in from the WNW, with a period of 9 seconds and moderate wave energy (120). The cross-off wind from the NW is keeping the surface tidy, but it’s very ordinary. That’s honestly the best we’re going to see for a while, and it’s not saying much.
From Thursday the 9th right through to the 19th of July, it’s a wasteland. The swell drops off, the wind goes onshore or cross-onshore, and the quality becomes poor. We’ve got a solid 11-day gap here with no real surfing to speak of. There’s a brief moment on Saturday afternoon the 11th where it goes glassy with a tiny 2ft swell, but it’s barely surfable. The energy is weak (53), and the waves are just too small to do anything with.
The pattern finally shifts around the 20th of July. Monday morning the 20th shows a clean 3ft swell from the north, with offshore wind from the WSW making it look tidy. The wave energy is still moderate (59), but the period is a short 5 seconds, so it’ll be a bit lumpy and weak. Monday afternoon the 20th sees the swell bump up to 4ft from the north, with a strong cross-off breeze and wave energy hitting moderate (106). The period is still short at 5 seconds, so it’s not going to be a classic, but it’s the best we’ve seen.
Sunday the 19th also has a brief mention of a clean 3ft from the north, but it’s weak and short period. The standout, if you can call it that, is the Monday afternoon on the 20th. It’s the biggest swell we get, it’s clean, and the energy is the highest in the entire 16-day window. It’s a sheltered spot, so it won’t handle the big stuff, but 4ft from the north with a clean face is about as good as it gets here this window.
After that, we’re back to small, clean but weak surf right through to the 23rd. It’s a frustrating run, but the forecast can always change.
Rusty, signing off.
