Table - best surf conditions forecast for Poldhu Cove over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about what Poldhu Cove is shaping up like. It’s a bit of a rough patch, and this break is known for being inconsistent, so the quiet spells aren't out of the ordinary. The water is sitting at 17°, which is a touch warmer than usual for the time of year.
The energy in the water is mostly weak, often under 100 (74). For Tuesday afternoon, we’ve got a tiny 2ft swell from the west with a short period, but the cross-onshore wind makes it a no-go.
Wednesday morning, the 8th of July, is your best bet. It’s glassy, with a clean 3ft west swell and a period of 10 seconds, giving us a moderate energy of 125. The conditions will be surfable and clean. Thursday morning and afternoon also look pretty similar with glassy conditions and small, clean waves. It’s not pumping, but it’s rideable.
Then from Friday the 10th all the way through to the 20th of July, it’s a dull, empty stretch. The wind stays clean offshore, but the swell is tiny. We’re talking 1ft or less most days, with energy numbers in the dirt. There's even a day with a 0.6ft swell and a crazy 19-second period – that’s nothing you can surf. Some of these windy days might be better for kiteboarding than paddling.
The last day, Wednesday the 22nd of July, does see a bump – a 6ft west swell with an 8-second period and a strong energy of 349. That’s the most power we get, but the wind is a fresh cross-onshore, making it lumpy. At that size and with that wind, it’s not quality surf. It’s too big for learners, and the conditions aren't clean.
Honestly, if you want a paddle, target the Wednesday and Thursday mornings of the first week. The rest of the outlook is a long blank run.
Rusty.
