Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let me level with you – I’ve run the numbers on Wembury for the next couple of weeks and, honestly, it’s one of those quiet spells that feels like the ocean’s on a go-slow. The whole sixteen‑day stretch from now right through to late July is a total blank when it comes to surf worth paddling out for. Every single forecast slot shows “poor surf conditions” – not a single recommendation to be found. That’s the kind of run that can be normal for a spot like Wembury, which is already listed as inconsistent. It doesn’t take much for it to go flat or just messy, and that’s exactly what we’ve got here. The good news? This kind of thing tends to turn around – one frontal system can change everything – but for now, there’s nothing doing.
Let’s walk through it day by day. Tuesday 7th July kicks off with a tiny 1.0ft swell from WSW, period around 9 seconds – not enough to push a decent wave. Water temp is sitting at 63°F, which is about 3°F warmer than average for this time of year – that’s noticeable, like a warm bath with no waves. Wind is cross‑off in the morning and then swings cross, so it’s not even clean enough for the small stuff. The combined swell energy is just 19 – weak as anything.
Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th stay puny – 1.0ft, 10‑second period – with a few glassy moments in the mornings. But glassy on a knee‑high, weak wave still means a frustrating session. Energy stays in the teens to low twenties. The wind is light and often glassy, but the swell just isn’t there.
Friday 10th into the weekend – Friday morning has that same 1.0ft, but by afternoon the wind cranks to 16 mph cross, making it choppy. Saturday 11th is even worse – swell drops to 0.7ft, period drops to 8 seconds, energy down to 8. Sunday 12th offers a brief spike in swell height to 3.0ft on a 4‑second period – that’s pure wind‑chop, not real surf, and with strong cross‑shore winds it would be a mess for a paddle boarder. Energy hits 38 but it’s all junk.
The following week barely improves. Monday 13th to Thursday 16th is dominated by strong east winds (28–31 mph), minimal swell (mostly 0.3–0.7ft) and short periods. A couple of raw afternoons do push 3.0ft from the east again, but that’s short‑period wind‑slop, not the kind of swell that wraps into Wembury cleanly. The point setup needs a decent SW groundswell to work; east wind and east swell are no good here.
Friday 17th afternoon shows a tiny squirt of promise – 2.6ft from SW at 7 seconds, wind cross‑on at 9 mph, energy 78. But that period is short, the wind isn’t favourable, and the rating is still zero. It’s a tease, nothing more. Saturday 18th continues the same theme – 2.3ft, 7‑second SW swell, but onshore wind and messy. Sunday 19th onwards fades again into 1.3ft and below.
So bottom line: nothing worth your time. If you’re desperate for a splash, maybe bring a bodyboard on one of the glassy mornings on the 8th or 9th, but the waves won’t carry you. For surf,
