Table - best surf conditions forecast for Wembury over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – this is a tough one. I’ve scanned the full 16-day window and honestly, there’s nothing to get excited about at Wembury. The whole period is a flat spell with persistent poor surf conditions. We’re looking at a long, quiet run with no real recommendations.
The first record shows nothing on offer, and from there it’s a grim stretch right through to the end. There is a gap of several days with no real surf to speak of. The combined swell energy is tiny throughout – we’re talking values like 22, 20, and even dropping as low as 2. That’s weak energy, plain and simple. The swell heights barely reach 1ft, and the periods are short, mostly 8-10 seconds, with a few longer ones but no height behind them. It’s just not going to break properly.
Now, let’s talk about the only break in the lineup: Wembury. It’s a point break, exposed to the SW, but it’s inconsistent and doesn’t break often. The water temp is sitting at 63°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year (anomaly of 3°). That’s notable, but it won’t help the waves.
The winds are a mess. Early on, we get a glassy Thursday morning with a light SSE breeze, but the swell is still only 1ft, so it’s clean but flat. Then it’s all cross-shore, cross-off, or strong winds. By the afternoon of the 12th, we get a 3ft E swell with a super short period of 4 seconds and a fresh cross-shore – that’s just lumpy, messy junk. The 13th brings a 4ft E swell, again with a 4-second period, and strong cross-shore winds. That’s not for paddling; that’s more of a kite-surfing setup if anything.
Nothing stands out as worth the drive. The only positive is the occasional clean window with offshore or cross-off winds, but with no swell, it’s just a pretty lake. For a beginner, anything over 5ft would be too big, but we never get close. For experts, there’s nothing over 8ft either. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that’s not unusual when the forecasts are this flat.
Keep your board waxed and check back – it tends not to stay poor for long. Rusty out.
